Stunning roof top double bedroom in very relaxed holiday house on lovely Takaungu beach, 20 mins south of Kilifi, secluded, 1 km from village, communal kitchen, shared bathroom, roof terrace, caretakers to look after you, sandy beach, great swimming. Calm, relaxed, peaceful. A 'Lonely Planet must visit recommendation.'
Takashak is a rustic 3 bedroom beach house right on the beach. You can either rent the whole house or individual rooms and maybe share with others. See our other listings for details.
Family owned for 35 years, the house has been sympathetically improved over the years, whilst maintaining a simple beach house character. Light is provided by hurricane lamps.
You will be looked after by William and Nickson, two charming local Giriama caretakers.
Takashak is very chilled. Get ready to slow down, read, switch your phone off, swim, snorkle, sun-bathe, eat fish straight from the sea, walk up the creek, walk along the beach at full moon, explore the ancient village of Takaungu.
You will be self catering but basic help is available from William and Nixon who can do some food preparation, wash the dishes, laundry and cleaning, bed-making etc.
The last 20 metres of the private drive is a steep 4 wheel drive only hill. 2 wheel drive vehicles can be left at the top of the hill 50 metres from the house.
On arrival you'll be offered a fresh coconut juice off our own coconut trees to revitalise you after your journey. Karibu!

You may well have the house to yourselves or you could be sharing. Takashak is our holiday home, a very special place in our lives, and it's a pleasure to share such a beautiful secluded spot.
Tipping is customary but not obligatory. Please respect local Muslim customs. Takaungu is not a tourist hot spot. It's a quiet peaceful village with a long history. Please respect and enjoy.
On arrival, William and Nickson, the caretakers, will show around and help you unload your luggage.
Have a swim. Only when you have swum do you appreciate where you are.
With respect to the caretakers and locals please don't leave valuables lying around.
Ladies please be sensitive to local dress code. Bikinis on the beach are fine but we advise wearing a kikoi or towel when you are in and around house and dress properly if you're going in to Takaungu. Takaungu is a peaceful Muslim community and please respect it and its customs. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask us.
First aid kit and fire extinguisher available.
