My off-the-grid solar home sits in a remote wilderness setting with beautiful views, just minutes from the hiking, climbing, lakes and rivers of the White Mountains and western Maine.
Downstairs there is a bathroom with a shower. The living room has a wood stove, couch and full sized futon. There is a full kitchen with a propane refrigerator. Upstairs there is a master bedroom with queen bed and full bath and a loft sitting area. There is a fire pit in the yard, and a grill on the porch with table and chairs for eating outside to enjoy the mountain views.
Accès des voyageurs
All space is available except the cabin which is across the driveway from the house and the laundry which is not accessible as it is complicated and expensive to use with the solar electricity.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
I will be available by phone for any questions for most of the time.
In rainy times a generator can be turned on for extra power, but most of the time the solar panels provide all you need.
Absolutely no smoking, no pets. Shoes off upstairs and in the living room, please. Quiet hours after 10pm and before 8am. Please carry out all empty bottles. NO electric appliances, especially with heating elements. Examples are space heaters, toasters, and coffee makers. I have a wood stove for heat, a stove top toaster and a french press for guests to use.
I am a climbing instructor, hiking guide and registered nurse. I have lived off the grid in this home that I helped build for eleven years. Feel free to ask me for hiking/climbing trail and route advice. I will help if I know the area you are going. I am happy to share my home with you and teach you what I know about solar energy and how to live off the grid.
