One of the last remaining authentic and original olde style houses/cottages in one of Galway's oldest areas, the Claddagh, that is safe quiet and totally residential but still only minutes walk from the very centre of the city, is on the very doorstep of all that Galway has to offer in every possible regard
You can't but enjoy
This is a very lovely and homely place to stay in with a really comfortable and cosy small-double sized real wooden guest bed with electric blanket, beside the bedroom window which looks out to a quite stunning view of the sea, over the large landscaped back garden which is done in cottage garden style, (to best benefit the birds, insects and wildlife generally), and the large public park, (known locally as "The Swamp"), in the foreground, and the sea with the hills of Clare, in the background. From the house you are only minutes away from all that you could want in the city. (And thats if you are walking, but, if you so wish, you can sign up to (URL HIDDEN) and avail of a cheap bicycle rental service that uses 16 docking stations which are scattered around the city, with one of the docking station being in the Claddagh itself). You will be spoilt for choice with the pick of restaurants of all types, branches of all the major retail chains, shopping malls, pubs, nightlife, cinemas and theatres, swimming pools, gymnasia, golf, pitch and putt etc. etc., all on hand.
The kitchen has a microwave, filter coffee machine, kettle, sandwich-maker and toaster, and is where you can help yourself to a light breakfast; porridge, both microwaveable and stove-top, a wide variety of breakfast cereals, eggs, bread, marmalade, oranges and grapefruits, (which can be taken whole or squeezed with the hand-juicer), tea, herbal teas, coffee. In the bathroom theres a high cistern cord-pull toilet and old style claw-legged bath with an electric shower, not forgetting the large and enclosed private gardens. As the photos show the house is decorated in cottage style, (cottage colours, distressed style paintwork, wooden wainscoting and wooden lounge ceiling).
A wide range of coffee shops providing food, bars providing food, eateries and restaurants of all description are all within very easy access, for breakfasts if so wanted by the guest(s), lunches and dinners, as are inexpensive laundry facilities.
An ironing board with steam iron, and a desk and chair are available, on request, for the use of the guest, and the guest room comes complete with a 4 plug power extension cable, power supply adapters/converters, a hair dryer, an electric blanket, bed-linen and towels.
I also stock a very wide and comprehensive range of guides to amenities, places to visit and things to do in Galway city itself and in the surrounding areas that are all easily accessible from Galway, to all the better assist the guests' enjoyment of their visit here.
I am sure that visiting Galway and staying here in this lovely house, full of charachter, class and olde-style, from the Liscannor stone fireplace, to the quarry tiles, the wainscoting, the half-turn stairwell, the Liscannor fireplace and the cast iron fireplaces, right down to the claw-legged bath and cord-pull toilet, you can't but have a wonderful time, and you have all the scenic, artistic, cultural, social, retail and sporting amenities of Galway on your very doorstep.
The pedestrianised city centre streets are full of buskers of all sorts and description, particularly throughout the summer months, but indeed all year round.
And then theres the festivals, particularly over the summer months, when the Galway Arts Festival, Galway Film Fleadh, Galway Fringe Festival, Salthill festival, Galway Races and the Galway International Oyster Festival take place, and indeed all year round when we have the Galway Jazz Festival, Galway Restaurant Week, Tulca Festival of Visual Arts, Galway Science and Technology Festival, Galway Christmas Market, Galway City on Ice, Galway International Rally, Galway Food Festival, Cuirt International Festival of Literature, Galway Theatre Festival, to name the best known, all taking place, which makes this city a real hotbed of festivals, not to mention the happenings over Bank Holiday weekends, Christmas, Easter etc, etc.
Galway Golf Club, Galway Lawn Tennis Club, several swimming pools with all manner of amenities and all categories of sporting opportunities are all just minutes away too.

I live in the house, I am usually at home and I will do my best to make the guest(s) feel welcome and their stay as enjoyable as possible. If so wished by the guest(s), I am generally available to help with any information that may be sought, be it with regard to travel/getting round or for advice/suggestions/recommendations of places to eat, visit and things to go to, or for any help at all that the guest(s) might want.
As mentioned above, bed linen, towels and keys will be provided for you, as will a hairdryer, a desk and chair, an ironing board and steam iron and power converters, if so required, on request.
It is requested that guests wear slippers or just wear their socks in the guest bedroom because it has a light coloured carpet.
I have a casual policy with regard to smoking, if it is so requested by the guest, because I myself smoke 2 to 3 rolled cigarettes per day either outside or out the window in my own bedroom with my bedroom door closed, but smoking by the guest is not permitted in the guest bedroom.
I would just like for visitors to my home to treat it in the same way as they would like for their own home to be treated by guests.
To save money for both the guest and the host, it is recommended that the guest has the free messaging and free voice calls apps (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) or Viber are installed on their phone.
Im told that Im good fun, easy-going and very easy to get on with and I hope you will agree??? I am very interested in playing and listening to music, reading, film, theatre, sports, travel and food to name my main interests.
I basically like and am very interested in people.
I suppose that the nearest that I'd have to a motto would be to try to "seize the day" and also to "not to lose my excitement"!!
