Simple and clean space for calmness and clarity. Queen bed with memory foam comfort and down duvet to slip away into a deep sleep. Private entrance to a shared bathroom when there are guests in the adjacent room (Jack & Jill style). Great kitchen and food for making your own breakfast on your own schedule. A seven-person hot tub which is always on for relaxing in the midnight sun or cold winter nights. A lovely home to enjoy alone time, kindred spirits, or the gifts of Mother Nature.

Le logement
Absolutely great location, close to downtown yet it feels like a cabin in the woods with a mini wilderness in my backyard. Yes, I do have neighbors but there are plenty of trees and it's on a very quiet street. The house has tasteful and interesting architecture and all the rooms are centrally located but designed for privacy, no long hallways off by yourself! With many windows and French doors it is always well lit and an inviting space to unwind and recharge.

Accès des voyageurs
It's a large three story house which I’ve turned into Great Land BnB and you have access to all of it, except the other bedrooms. I rent out a total of 3 rooms which may be available if you’re traveling with friends, otherwise you may meet fellow friendly Air-BnBers during your stay. All 3 of the rooms I rent out are on the 3rd floor so there are 2 sets of stairs to reach your bedroom, a total of 28 steps which is great exercise but may not be the best if mobility is an issue. Sleep in as long as you like and when you're ready there's a full kitchen for a do-it-yourself breakfast. Whether it's something quick or a hearty meal using the commercial griddle, you're free to help yourself to any food or drinks (unless marked as other guest’s food). There will be fruit, granola, coffee, tea, non-dairy milk, juice, organic eggs, English muffins, hearty bread, waffle and pancake mix, as well as various veggies and cheese for omelets or scrambles. You're free to use the kitchen for other meals as well. There are several options of where to eat. I have a big dining room that seats 8, or a more private meal I have a breakfast bar adjacent the kitchen for 4, on nice days there are a couple tables on the deck, and lastly my personal favorite is the breakfast table in the kitchen where I enjoy the morning sun streaming in through the full length windows. A great place to gently start the day sipping a hot beverage and watching for birds coming to the feeders; I leave my bird book on the table for any of us bird nerds. :) Outside the kitchen on the deck is a 7 person hot tub with several massage jet options, built in speakers with Bluetooth; a great way to relax both for the long summer evenings and winter nights searching for the northern lights. I have a living area with a brick fireplace for cold nights, a couch, recliner, and 60" T.V. I don't have cable but it connects to WiFi so you can connect to various applications including Netflix and Hulu. On the other side of the house is a sitting area which is a great place for a book or engaging conversation, also with a fireplace. On the bottom level are the car garages, to the left as you walk down the stairs is where I keep four loaner bicycles for you to cruise around town or on the Coastal Trail. I also have 2 fat tire bikes for winter riding as well 2 sets of snowshoes and sleds. Also on the garage level are a ping pong table and dart board, feel free to enjoy them but I must warn you I may challenge you to a game and I don't like to lose! If you have clothes to wash, on the top floor where the bedrooms are is a laundry room with soap. I love living here and hope you enjoy it as well!

Autres points à prendre en note
For the winter season I am able to offer discounted lift tickets to Alyeska Ski Resort which is about 50 minutes away. For weekends and holidays Alyeska charges $85 for a lift ticket and $65 for midweek. I am able to provide lift tickets for $75 each which work for weekdays or weekends and includes night skiing. I can accept cash, check, or ven_mo payment for the tickets. Let me know if you’re interested.

Anchorage, Alaska, États-Unis

An excellent location within easy walking distance of the great shops and restaurants of the North Spenard area. It takes 3 minutes to walk to Spenard Rd. and as you head south you'll come to the renowned Chilkoot Charlies, a historic Alaska drinking establishment known for it's many different bars with all sorts of live music and events, Ray's Vietnamese food is across the street from the bar, continue south and you'll see Alaska Mountaineering and Hiking with Mamma O's Seafood, Organic Oasis, and Play It Again Sports on the right (a great place for used sporting goods as well as rentals), also on the right is Bear Tooth Theater and Pub my favorite cinema, tickets are around $5 dollars and you can drink their own brewed beer and eat great pizza while watching indie and late run films. Still on Spenard Rd. and about a 10 minute walk now from the house is Spenard Roadhouse a place with an excellent brunch and arguably the best bloody marys in town, REI is across the street and next to it is Hearth known for their artisanal pizza and craft beer as well as Middle Way Café serving great breakfast and lunch. There are plenty of small independent shops and boutiques all in the area just waiting to be explored I still haven’t been to them all!

If you're looking for outdoors activities in the area head north and down the hill on Spenard. After about 5 minutes you'll come to a small park next to Westchester Lagoon, continue on the path and go through the tunnel and you'll come to a Frisbee golf course as the trail continues along the main part of the lagoon. The lagoon (lake) itself is a relaxing place for a picnic or bird watching, the city maintains a large ice skating area during the winter months. After the lagoon, the trail turns into the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. If you go south it will parallel the coast past Fish Creek and on couple miles to Earthquake Park which is an easy and scenic bike ride and decent jog. If you're feeling really ambitious the trail goes out to Kincaid Park which is about 9 miles from the house. Kincaid Park if you prefer to drive has plenty of hiking trails, an 18 basket Frisbee golf course, groomed cross-country skiing in the winter, sand dunes with an adjacent motorsport course. All of the trail is scenic with plenty of nature to enjoy. It is not uncommon to see moose ambling about, give them some distance and respect and they'll continue to be good neighbors.
Another option is to turn north on the Coastal Trail which after around 1.5 miles takes you to downtown Anchorage with many shops, restaurants, breweries, parks and bars. Also along the trail is the AK Railroad Museum, Ulu Factory, and Ship Creek.

If you want a good day hike, Flat Top is a half an hour drive away and a vigorous climb with spectacular views of Anchorage and the surrounding mountains and Turnagain Arm. Alyeska Resort is an hour away with good skiing in the winter but also a tram in the summer for mountaintop dining and hiking. A reserve for rescued wild animals down in the Girdwood area as well as the Portage Glacier lake cruise. In the Eagle River area there’s a nature center with trails through beaver wetlands, Thunderbird falls, and Eklutna Lake with kayak rentals. There's so much more to see and do but I don't want to try and list everything. Let me know what you're looking for and hopefully I can give you some pointers.
An excellent location within easy walking distance of the great shops and restaurants of the North Spenard area. It takes 3 minutes to walk to Spenard Rd. and as you head south you'll come to the renowned Chilk…

Tiny adjustments to the rudder means the difference between drifting and sailing with purpose, regardless of your destinations. Nope, didn't steal this from the motivational poster in the human resources office! I do believe every action and choice affects our health, wealth, love, and happiness. I try to be a mindful person but also balance it with “don't get bent out of shape over the little stuff”. Although I have lived and traveled all over, Alaska is my home and where I grew up mostly. Yes, I love new places and cultures but am most at home in nature among the simple beauty. Health and fitness are important to me; better fuel means better performance. My gym time is usually a vigorous workout in the yard or a peaceful run on the coastal trail. I love meeting new people and feel happiness is best when shared. Music is one of the joys of my life especially live performances so it is something I like to seek out when traveling or at home. Learning, growing, changing, this is what being alive is about, and how great is it to be around those who encourage it?! Life’s a garden – dig it!

As one who loves to travel and meet new people I look forward to seeing you and am always up for hanging out. I do live at the place so chances are you’ll see me around. It doesn't take much arm twisting to convince me to go out for a beer or some live music. I can point you in the right direction for jogging paths, hiking trails, or some of my favorite bars, and restaurants etc... However, as I mentioned I love to travel and like to stay active which means I may not always be there to give you all these recommendations in person. Since I am often out, I have the place set up so you can check in and out on your own using a door code and everything should be self-explanatory for a great stay. I do want to be the host who interacts plenty with my guests whether I'm physically there or not. I do always have a manager to look after the place when I'm gone and will help you with anything I can't do while I'm physically away.
