Casa Colomba is a gorgeous medieval tower, modernized without compromising the charm of the historical building. Highly recommended!

I wish I could give Casa Colomba extra stars for this review. Not only because the apartment is spectacular, but because Marie & Lorenzo are outstanding hosts. First, let me say the pictures (while amazing themselves) do not do this home justice. The unit is spotless and the attention to style and detail is evident throughout. The idea of staying in this 12th century tower with stone walls and Tuscan charm is romantic and when you arrive you realize it delivers all you’ve dreamed about and more. The home is well equipped – we cooked an authentic meal in the kitchen with a professional, did laundry and had everything we needed for a comfortable week including bathrobes and a welcome pack (with Prosecco!) to get us started. I could go on about the delightful apartment, but the hospitality of the owners is what truly sets this property apart. This is actually our second stay at Casa Colomba. We were lucky enough to find this exceptional property in 2012. I looked back at my entry into the guest book and found that I wrote we felt we arrived as customers and left as friends. Marie and Lorenzo go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and to ensure a true Tuscan experience and smooth travels. The first stay we used the apartment as a hub for sightseeing – Florence, Pisa, Lucca, San Gimignano and Chianti. This time we planned a more Tuscan experience and we took advantage of a few that can be coordinated by Marie. We highly recommend the olive oil experience, wine tasting tour and cooking class. These are personal experiences with family owned vineyards and farms that would not be found independently. The restaurants around Vicopisano are some of the best we’ve found anywhere – not the tourist experience (there is a great guide in the apartment to help you find the best). An added bonus is that many of these coffee bars, pizza shops and restaurants are an easy walk from the cottage allowing for another bottle of wine on the table! Another example of how Marie and Lorenzo ensure you get the true immersion experience you desire is their willingness to share local community events you might miss otherwise. We had the chance to see the priest’s blessing of antique Fiat 500s and Vespas in the neighboring town. Amazing! The icing on the cake was their assistance in taking us to Mailboxes to ship our wine purchases and olive oil home – now that is service (and a taste of Tuscany at home)! From the romantic accommodations to the ideal location to see Tuscany and Marie and Lorenzo’s gracious hospitality I can’t say enough. We’ve been blessed to travel extensively and Vicopisano is quickly becoming our favorite place to visit in the world! Thank you Marie and Lorenzo for sharing your Tuscan lifestyle with us…we will be back again soon!!

Marie and Lorenzo, are the property owners, we live in our own private apartment on site and are always available should you need us.

We are also professional property managers and we look after other properties in the village.

We always meet and greet our guests, share our local knowledge and show you around the property.

Each of our guests receives our personally designed “pre - welcome pack” before arrival - the information pack has been designed to both enhance and plan your stay with us.

We have lived in the village for over 10 years and we are happy to share our local knowledge over glass or two of chilled prosecco either in the garden or Casa Colomba’s recently renovated ground floor.

We are connected with licensed tour guides for Pisa, Florence and beyond. We would love to introduce you to our local artisans and local food producers.

Many of our guests have enjoyed our cooking lessons, wine and food tastings, and guided tours around Brunelleschi’s Medieval Fortress. Bike Rentals is also available close by and Horseback riding can be enjoyed just a 15 walk away. If you like to spend your days in the beach, it can be reached in just a 30-minute drive.

À propos de Marie

Originally from the UK, I moved to Italy in 1999 and settled in the area of Tuscany with husband Lorenzo in 2001.

Lorenzo is originally from Turin and graduated in hotel management and catering - apart from helping with the day to day running of Casa Colomba and the other properties we manage he works in a nearby hotel.

I currently work with a leading British airline as part time cabin crew and I have been lucky enough to travel the world and stay in splendid hotels. Due to my training and experiences I have come to learn the needs of the traveler and how attentive customer service can enhance a guest's experience.

It started with the purchase of a Medieval tower house in the centre of Vicopisano in 2007….

Then came the painstaking and loving restoration of each of its floors including the 12th Century tower room….

As with many historic restoration projects the budget ran out before the project was finished!…..

To inject some more income into the project, the top floor of our new home became an overnight vacation rental…..

We took some photos and posted our details on the web……

Within 24 hours we had received four enquiries and hence our journey began.

Our little village soon had a steady stream of visitors from overseas and both our guests and the locals were loving it….

Our guests loved the idea of staying in an historic building full of character as well as enjoying the authenticity of the local area..

Before we knew it the local residents where asking if they could open their homes to visitors and share with them the traditions of their village.

We liked the idea and since then we are now managing 10 properties throughout the village.

Lorenzo and I both like socialising, good food, chilled prosecco, jazz and soul music, days at the beach, walks in the country, cooking and of course travelling. We don't tend to travel too far because we love Tuscany and Italy although we nearly always holiday in Greece.

We always say we have the best guests ever!.... and we really do mean that. We've met people form all over the world and everyone has a story. Of course we always respect our guests privacy but if you want to chat over a glass of Prosecco in the bar next door - we'll be there!
We love to socialise with our guests but unfortunately we don't always have the time.

We enjoying sharing our local knowledge and introducing you to the local artisans, food producers and characters.

see Casa Colomba page for an insight of how our guests enjoy a more authentic Tuscany filled with wonderful experiences.
