Three nights at one of the best places I have ever been to. I am impressed! Lovely place with beautiful surroundings. Colin is a master chef & bread baker. Vegetarian evening meals was no problem for him and he inspired me to get the same cook book :) Deborah drove me to places of interest and showed me around their well looked after little farm. It was 4 star all the way - I had two rooms to myself and was served excellent food. Having no car was not a problem. Deborah picked me up from the Edinburgh train. It is only a 40 min. trip. The stay gave me energy, inspiration and new found friends. Thank you!

I got a very warm welcome from the sympathetic couple Deborah and Colin. The place has a good ambience and would be especially romantic for a couple. There is an extensive choice on the breakfast menu. Meals are served in the heated glass veranda. The adjacent main room has a nice living space with a wood stove and a grand piano. Upstairs is a delightful sleeping space adjacent to a well functioning bathroom. The couple did all their best to make my stay pleasant. There are many interesting possibilities for tours in the surrounding. I did enjoy the Dawyck Botanical Garden and the surreal garden of Ian Hamilton Finley.

We have been open for 4 years in August 2016. To date our guests have found us via our own website, just type The Lint MIll into your search engine or via Sawdays Special Places to Stay. You will find plenty of reviews on these websites. In this time we have achieved a 4 star Grading from Visit Scotland in our first year, a 4 star Gold in our second year & a Gold Green Tourism Business award.

We are proud of the quality of experience that we give to our guests. We hope that no request is too much trouble and that from the moment you arrive, you will feel the specialness of the The Lint Mill. Our guests are frequently surprised that they have a private conservatory and sitting room as well as spacious, lofted bedroom and ensuite shower room for the duration of their stay.

Colin manages the entire smallholding. He grows all our vegetables and tends all our animals. He is an excellent cook and baker (he trained with Andrew Whitley of ‘Bread Matters’) and he prides himself on preparing delicious meals for our guests using all our own produce.

When she’s not on the smallholding, Deborah is the Head of Performance Pedagogy at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Deborah is a dedicated and vocational teacher who teaches performers and educators. She is responsible for the admin, marketing and photography, the pretty cottage garden and the finishing touches to the décor in the B&B.

When we moved here in 2009 our reason for choosing to live and work on the land was a desire to live in a more environmentally sustainable way. For us it is both a political statement and a profoundly practical response to the continuing destruction of our planet. The Lint Mill is a place that encourages you to notice things...the changing of the seasons, the cycles of nature, the sound of birdsong. We are aware of the beauty and fragile nature of our landscape and so we always try to pass on to our guests the necessary information to help us protect and enhance this environment and to respect our land.
