Our stay at Yabbiekayu was incredible. From the moment we arrived, Bakti, Babun and the staff at Yabbiekayu were so attentive and helpful with anything we needed. They made suggestions for activities during our 5 days in jogja and ended up planning basically our entire stay. We did a cooking class with the ladies in the Yabbiekayu kitchen which was wonderful, participated in a yoga class, and did day trips to Prambanan and Borobudor which they organized. The attention to detail was great- they really go above and beyond. They even Invited us to a housewarming party for one of their staff. It was so much fun!! The accommodation and grounds are simply beautiful. I can't wait to come back to jogja and stay with my Yabbiekayu family again!!

The bungalows are fabulous - the photos are accurate and they are probably even better than depicted as progress is constantly being made at Yabbiekayu. The setting is one of the highlights. If you like busy, touristy type restaurants and shops, then Yabbiekayu is not for you. The bungalows are in a real village where people get up at the crack of dawn or before to start working in the rice fields. They plow, they plant, they bring their sheep to feed, they flood the fields, they drain the fields. In our week at Yabbiekayu we saw the whole process of planting rice before our very eyes. It was constantly changing scenery. As we walked through the village to go eat lunch or dinner, women washing clothes or tending their children greeted us. Grandpa holding his grandson practiced his English with us and proudly showed us the newest generation. Children hollered hello and good-bye to us from the school yard and waved until we were long past. We smiled alot and many smiles were returned. It felt like we were the only tourists in town. There were a few very nice restaurants nearby where we had delicious Indonesian food at very reasonable prices. Dave, the owner and brainchild behind Yabbiekayu was thankfully in town for most of our visit. He showed us what he has planned and his passion, enthusiasm and love for Indonesia and the village of Tembi was overwhelmingly apparent. Knowing what he had planned helped us to deal with the occasional construction noise or the lack of some amenities such as a pool and restaurant on site. We felt privileged to see the project in it's infancy and to hear of Dave's vision from himself personally. Bakti, the office manager arranged a few trips for us. Our first driver didn't speak English which proved to be a bit of an issue as our Indonesian is limited to greetings and thank you. However, when I asked if an English driver was available she found one immediately and Sakir was fabulous. My two biggest concerns before arriving at Yabbiekayu were: the location and the lack of a/c. The location proved to be an asset, not a detriment. One trip down Marlboro Street, the main drag in Yogyakarta was enough for me. We couldn't wait to get back to the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere of Tembi. Secondly, the fact that there was no a/c was not an issue. Dave explained how he managed the heat situation when building the bungalows. Honestly, after the first night, I asked for another blanket as one wasn't enough for the two of us. We left the windows open, the fan on and snuggled under the blankets. It was fabulous! Both my husband and I feel like our stay at Yabbiekayu will be one of the accommodations we talk about long after we return home. I am sure you will feel the same way if you have the privilege and opportunity to stay here.

BOOK this place, you do not need to think twice Having the benefit of staying both in a hotel in central Jogja city and Yabbiekayu, we are so glad we got to spend most of our time in Jogja with Yabbiekayu. The place is run by a great team who pay attention to every single detail. Nice eco standard, comfy bed, all-green surrounding, relaxed atmosphere, farm-to-table menu concept, village life and helpful staffs, we absolutely enjoyed our stay. It was totally our dream of a back-to-nature getaway, yet without a compensation on the comfort level and of course, good food and some chilled bottles of Bintang. Highly recommended. We will definitely come back.

Yabbiekayu is a unique place to stay. The location is great, not far from the centre of town and in a lovely setting, it's very peaceful. It is about an hour and a half drive from Borobodour and Prambanan through Beautiful countryside. The rooms were wonderful, ours had a beautiful outdoor bathroom. The staff made us very welcome and were incredibly helpful with planning our days and booking a driver and any tickets we needed. the food was delicious, and most of it home grown. At night we sat and chatted to the owner Dave and learnt about Indonisian life. We had a wonderful stay and would love to return.
