On the Three Lakes/Eagle River Chain, the largest chain of connected lakes (28) in the world. This is one of God's masterpieces with about 2 private acres of rolling terrain, over 300 feet frontage and a nostalgic cabin you will fall in love with.

Le logement

We purchased this property in 2015 and did a pretty good job (we think) outfitting it in the "Up North" style. It has a fresh coat of paint as of mid-July, 2015.

Accès des voyageurs

For 2017, we are only taking reservations for 2 X 1 week periods and then 30 or more day increments.

There are vacation rental restrictions in this area and we will abide by the local rules.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

You'll be pretty much on your own. You'll be met by my agent, given the keys and you'll have the whole property at your disposal.

Autres remarques

This is a beautiful property because of the rolling terrain, but be advised there are 42 steps from the parking area to the cabin and then about 18 steps to the lake.

Overall this was a very nice little rustic cabin in the woods. Not fancy, but that wasn't what we were looking for! There is wildlife all around, it is very private and quiet without being too far from a town and things to do. We had a great stay there and enjoyed it a lot. Views were great, our dogs were allowed. For a family with very small children or anyone in a wheelchair it would not be the best as there are a lot of stairs and steep hills. Really the only issue we had was one day the septic system had an issue and we were not able to use the bathroom at all for about 24 hours. The host was very helpful and kind although they are not on site! We appreciate being able to stay here!

The location is wonderful. The cabin and the waterfront were all are very private. There are a ton of steps from the area in which to park to access the cabin. That was fine for us as we have a young family. However for someone elderly or handicapped it may be a problem. Once inside the cabin the large window made it feel like you are inside a treehouse. It really was very beautiful. The cabin was very clean. We thought the beds were extremely comfortable and assume the mattresses must be new. The couch and other furniture were also very comfortable and clean the kitchen had everything that was necessary to provide a comfortable stay. The owner had thought of a lot of details like including extra shelves to place your food items etc. having the laundry capability was also a very nice touch. The cabin did have a vintage feel. This definitely added to the up north charm. The bathroom did have lighting but no capabilities to plug anything in etc. The tub had a hand-held shower so that you were able to use a shower with the older plumbing. Outside the owner had thought of many details. There was a clothesline to hang wet lifejackets and swimming suits and a very nice fire pit. Prior to our arrival there was a broken line in the septic system. Because of this we did have workers coming on three separate days during our stay to assess the situation, pump out the holding tank, and fix the broken line and later a pump. The workers were all very kind and tried to be unobtrusive but did have to continually enter the cabin to use the electrical services for their tools. I felt that the owner did everything possible to have things fixed so that we were comfortable while we were there. However it wasn't ideal to have the interruption of workers during our one-week vacation. Overall we had a very good experience and would recommend it to others.

As the listing suggests, the cabin is private; you cannot see neighbors on either side. It is also close to the town of Three Lakes, and the attractive Three Rivers bike trail is easily reachable from the cabin. The lake is pleasant with weed-free swimming from the pier. However, because the cabin is located near a resort and a channel connecting to another lake, there is a certain amount of noise from the water (motorboats, campers etc.). The kitchen was quite functional, but the cabin was missing some necessities: there was no phone book (we needed one to find an urgent care center at one point), radio (in the absence of TV or internet there needs to be some way to check for weather warnings and such), or gas/charcoal grill. There were also no table/chairs for outdoor dining. Many of the windows either lacked screens or could not be opened (we could open none of the windows in the master bedroom). Some windows also did not appear to lock. We were asked to take our trash with us when we left (ten days of trash on a two day car trip?). This surprised us because there is a cleaning fee. Also, the washing machine was filled with dirty sheets and towels when we arrived, and there was trash around the firepit area. Finally, after we returned, the host left a voicemail threatening to "put a hold our security deposit" over a broken door handle. We were puzzled (several door handles did not function perfectly when we arrived but they were functional). The host did not respond after we left a message asking for clarification. In the end, we contacted Airbnb directly to find out what was going on. No action was taken, but it left a sour taste in our mouths.

We (Steve & Chris) came to Oahu for a visit in 1988 and couldn't imagine raising a family anywhere else. When you live in Paradise 365 days a year, where do you go to get away? Waikiki.
And now Wisconsin...we just added a rustic lakefront cabin to our list of coolest spots on the planet. This will be a future part time retirement spot for us, but for now we'd like to share the "Up North" Wisconsin experience with the Airbnb community.
