This is glamping at its very best. The site is completely private and there is only the one safari tent - so no neighbours other than badgers, owls and the grazing sheep. Everything is provided - just bring yourselves and a sense of adventure! You have your very own shower 'hut' with hot water and a flushing loo. If 'rustic' and 'luxury' can be put in the same sentence then this is the time.
The safari tent is situated on a private 2000 acre family estate in Herefordshire right by a babbling brook which runs into the famous River Wye. It also has its own picnic area by the river which also can be used as a private entry point for canoing down the river. There is plenty to do with wonderful private walks and it joins on the Wye Valley path network so is perfect as a couple of days rest for those who are on this walk. There is plenty to do locally and a good pub which is a 10 minute walk away over the farms orchards.
A local activity company will come out and set up archery, provide mountain bikes or take you canoing (at an extra charge of course).
The walks are second to none, and also in the summer mountain biking is excellent - I can get bikes delivered to the tent at a charge, or you can bring your own. Maps will be in the tent.
Accès des voyageurs
You will be met on arrival and escorted to the tent. There is parking off road available close to the tent (5 min walk) but we will take your luggage. If you have a four wheel drive car (or when it is very dry) you can drive up to the little bridge that takes you to the safari tent.
Close walk across some orchards to a pub which serves good beer and food.

Other than meet you on arrival and help with luggage to the tent (don't bring too much!) I will let you be. You will be given a lift back to your car with your luggage on your check out.
The tent is situated right on the banks of a brook, so toddlers will need supervision at all times, but this is a children haven. Building dams, playing poo sticks and just running wild and free. As how true camping should be.
However there are various ways to cook. There is a firepit to BBQ right by the stream, but if the weather is not so good there is a gas stove which can cook even roast potatoes and small pizzas which is inside the tent. There is also the firepit down on the river bank (8 min walk through an orchard).
All the beds are made up on your arrival with crisp sheets and fresh towels and toiletries. There is a solar powered fridge which also provides some 12V electric power to a couple of lights and you can charge a mobile phone. The rest of the lighting is from paraffin lamps and there is a real sense of atmosphere around the camp. Do bring some battery operated toys/music if you feel. You have no-one to disturb!!! You might just keeps the owls awake!

I am a mother of three - Jessica, Jack and Ben and married to a farmer in Herefordshire. I have a small holiday business there which I really enjoy and even though I love coming to London for short times as it keeps my sanity, we hardly visit our beautiful London house. I have loved creating a 'home from home' family house in London which others can now enjoy. I enjoy exploring new places and staying in unique properties. I am not one for sitting down too long and I have horses and dogs and when my children permit I can spend hours with them.
I believe that when you are travelling and spending money you want to feel special and valued, and I deeply dislike staying in modern, massive hotels - however smart!! If I was travelling to London with my family, I would much prefer to take a house like mine - this is why I have done it. Tell me what you think!
