Thank you for your very through review. I was sorry to read that you had issues with your asthma. My son and I have asthma and understand very well. You should always let any hosts know beforehand that you have health issues and they can help determine if their accommodations will be suitable for your needs. Any host really doesn't want you and your guests to be uncomfortable. It always helps to run the air conditioner, which you didn't use, to reduce allergens. Most of our guests use the AC because of the humidity of Hawaii. Our condo backs up to the forest, we have lush tropical gardens just underneath the windows and doors, and there are lots of pollen and dust that gets pulled into the condo via the fans. The tropical environment is laden with many things that the unfamiliar might not be accustomed to, especially coming from Toronto. Yes, there are some bugs, it is the tropics, and many arrive inside due to the doors being left open and they fly. Also, we have found that cardboard boxes and paper bags are great homes for unseen visitors. So we recommend using the cloth bags, there are usually some in the condo, since they are easily washed. I know you don't personally appreciate carpeting, however, the carpeting we have is not even 2 yrs old, it is nylon with anti mold properties. We like carpeting and you are the first guests to suggest that we change out our tile, laminate and carpeting. Our condo photos clearly show the flooring materials in every room. Our condo is quiet due in part to the high quality carpeting, pad and soundproofing that we installed. But, thank you for your input and we will be happy to take it into consideration next time we choose flooring for our Kona home.
We love to hear the suggestions of our guests. Our repeat guests always look forward to our next project at the condo.
Mahalo and Best Regards,
