*** Location, Location, Location... ***
Best place ever! The apartment is located 1min from the main station, just cross the street and you are there!
Inner city: It takes you about 5 min walk to get within the old town of Nuremberg... if you don't want to walk, you can use subway, busses or the streetcar - all of the stations are located within a 1 or 2 min walk.
Bars & Clubs: At night, a lively club scene lures night-owls into pubs, bars and discos. Just cross the street and you will have 2 or 3 clubs and a few very good bars, that are located near the main station (such as the noble club "Indabahn", or a very high class bar called "Mexx",...)
And please notice: Nuremberg nights are long. They might start in a bar – in the classicly elegant "Gelbes Haus", for example, or in the loud and fun "Bar Blau" – and it might end after many hours of dancing, maybe in the mega-temple of dance, "Planet", or at one of the legendary parties for "bar sluts" in the wild, wild "Hirsch".
Night owls and party-animals are spoilt for choice: classic cocktail bars, stylish scene pubs, cosy inns, jazz clubs, live concerts, techno discos, theme parties, singles parties – there is something to suit everybody. Nuremberg's city and culture magazines will inform you what's on and what's hip at any given time.
And don't be afraid, you won't hear any of the noise while staying in the apartment. It is a very calm and quite place for the night.
If you need any advice, just ask me, when you are here and I will be happy to show you around and help you with any advice.
*** Nuremberg's Varied Culture & Leisure Programme ***
Nuremberg offers a wide variety of events catering for all tastes. Opera or ballet in the State Theatre, children's culture and cultural events in various city districts, cabaret and so on – the programme is huge. Particularly popular: numerous music festivals such as for example "Rock in the Park", the "Bardentreffen" world music festival or the two classic open air concerts in the summer, luring ov (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) music fans to Luitpold Grove for a festive picnic.
Nuremberg's life is colourful all year round. It is green mainly in the places where Nuremberg citizens like to spend time in the summer – in the landscaped, near-natural river meadows of the River Pegnitz, in the parks, in the Field of Experiences for all the Senses, and in one of Europe's largest and most beautifully landscaped zoos. Thanks to the good public transport network, attractive destinations, for example for surfing in the Franconian Lake District or rock-climbing in the Fränkische Schweiz, are within easy reach.
*** Destinations for Outings ***
Nuremberg's life is colourful all year round. It's green where Nuremberg citizens go in the summer: on the near-natural banks of the River Pegnitz which runs right through the city, in the city's parks and in the zoo, the Planetarium, one of Europe's largest and most beautifully landscaped zoos which – unique for the Southern German region – also includes a dolphin house as a special attraction.
If you want me to join, I will be more than happy to show you around!
*** Gastronomy ***
I love to eat, and I love to eat a lot... So here some advices for what to get in Nuremberg: Lebkuchen and roast sausages contribute to Nuremberg's fame all over the world. As "Drei im Weggla" (three sausages in a roll), the thumb-sized sausages are a quality "fast food" with style, popular with both Nuremberg citizens and tourists. Nuremberg's culinary spectrum spans from sausages, roasted on a charcoal grill in traditional style, to star-restaurants, including speciality restaurants from many countries all over the world.
Street cafés and coffee-bars are ideal for a little rest. And when the weather is good, a visit to one of the beer-gardens is definitely a must. And the best: It only takes you 5 min from the appartment to get to the most places!
*** Shopping for the girls... ;- ) ***
If you walk 10 min from the apartment through the main station (1min walk), you will be standing directly within one of Europe's largest shopping precincts. Within comfortable walking distance many department stores and shops offers something for everybody: for lovers of fine fashions, for bargain hunters and trend setters. In the historic ambience of the Old Town, any shopping spree in exclusive boutiques, glass-fronted shopping malls and department stores can easily be combined with sightseeing.
Not far from the Church of St. Lawrence, you'll find the heart of the shopping city, the parallel streets of Breite Gasse and Karolinenstraße. This is shopping fun for the entire family: there is something to cater for every taste and for every budget. Adjacent Kaiserstraße offers exclusive products for the demanding customer. Elegant boutiques sell well-known designer brands and bring the flair of the metropolis to Franconia.
A stroll through Kaiserstraße will take you to the main market square, Nuremberg's "best room". The daily farmers' market located there is a joy for all senses. Market stalls with their red-and-white sunshades offer a feast for the palate: fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and sausage from the region, cheese and baker's goods. And the colourful flower stalls are an additional feast for the eye.
In the numerous little lanes around the main market square and below the Castle, there are many little shops to discover. They sell designer fashion, jewellery, shoes, or antiques. If you look for something a little unusual you are sure to find something here.
The "Handwerkerhof" (Crafts Yard) is an attractive special feature of the shopping city of Nuremberg. Traditional craftsmen such as pewterers, glass engravers, glass painters, doll makers and leather bag makers offer their wares in a typically Franconian half-timbered ambience.
*** Winter Highlights ***
In December, the wonderful aroma of mulled wine and spicy gingerbread will be all around – the world-famous Christmas Market will again return to Nuremberg's Main Market Square.
