Harry (the Manx cat) and I share a lovely solar-powered timber home in Gympie, 'The Town that Saved Queensland', that we invite you to.
Gympie is on the edge of the lovely Mary Valley and Blackall Range, within easy reach of picturesque villages, hills, agricultural activity, creeks and waterholes, and home to markets, festivals and the Gympie Muster! It is also well situated for visits to the Sunshine Coast, Rainbow Beach, Tin Can Bay, Maryborough and Fraser Island. This is a great place to stop for a few days on your way up or down the Southern Queensland coast.
Gympie is a sizable regional town with five supermarkets, a shopping mall, several very nice eateries and cafes, a vibrant and fabulous art gallery, an historic steam train - 'The Valley Rattler' and loads of charm. It also has an incredible range of op shops!! Definitely a must for retro fans and greenies! The local people here are relaxed and friendly.
A twenty minute walk from the house takes you to Mary St, in the heart of Gympie, and a five minute walk in the other direction takes you into the countryside where you are very likely to meet a kangaroo or two!
We have one room to let. The room has a comfortable double bed, a sofa, and a small wardrobe. Bathroom facilities are shared. The house is attractively styled with a strong mid-century retro flavour and lots of natural timber furniture and floors. There are lots of places to sit and relax with a book and a drink and enjoy your own space. I have plenty of books, a DVD player and music.
This is a dairy-free vegetarian house (apart from what Harry eats) and a hearty breakfast and a home-cooked dinner are included in the room rate. Please advise of any special dietary needs, e.g. gluten-free, and I will be happy to accommodate.
Harry and I look forward to meeting you.
