Built in 2007 early 2008 this young neighbourhood is off the main drag and located 10 minutes from North West Point and the famous luxury 5 star resort Amanyara. Our neighbourhood is laid out with 3 and 2 bedroom homes on approximately 1/4 acres with a great mix of nationalities. We are not in the touristy area, more suburban island-style living. You will hear occasional dominoes playing or dogs barking or laughter and see neighbours jogging or walking or kids cycling by. It you want to be in the midst of the touristy areas, this will not work for you.

There are 112 homes in the Wheeland Estates all 2 or 3 bedrooms on 1/4 acre of land. Corrinize Avenue on which Poinciana Place is located is revered as one of the most sought after avenue as there is great mix of locals and expatriates, Canadians, Jamaican, Bahamian, US citizens, Spanish and French speaking home owners.

The location lends itself to the feeling of living in a gated community with neighbours looking out for each others property. Most properties are fenced or gated however there are dogs 'potcakes' owned as pets; this can make jogging or cycling harder from the barking.

What I like about living here is the close proximity to the Beach and National Park - 8 mins drive NW or to Da Conch Shack and Kalookies on the beach driving NE along the beach road. While there is a 10 mile stretch of beach in Blue Hills (the larger community where Wheeland is) it is not all amazing for swimming due to the seaweeds and conch shells however at the restaurants the beach is cleaned and great for taking a dip.

Local fishermen pull their boats in with the catch of the day. Blue Hills is the home of the annual Conch Festival held every last Saturday in November. Wheeland is home to the Bird Observatory, NW National Park, Flamingo Pond and soon to come beach jogging or walking trail.

Off the beaten path living gets you to know the island as locals do, sampling roadside jerk chicken and pork, local island bbq and conch dishes outside of the touristy areas yet minutes from it.

If you are looking for a place to unwind and chill this is for you. Welcome to our side of Paradise.

Take time to enjoy off the beaten path beaches, these are the more stunning ones, if you can hop to the islands of North and Middle Caicos to Mudjin Harbour and taste the best 'jerk burger' in the Turks and Caicos more pleasure for you.

We hope you treat our home with care. We are located in a great community, no overbearing loud noise or music but the occasional laughter of kids as they pass by or dominoes playing. The house is strictly NON SMOKING INDOORS. If you choose to smoke, please do so OUTSIDE and discard in ash tray provided. There is a $250 charge for smoking inside the house.

Electricity and water are very expensive on the island. We ask that you do not leave the taps running and turn the air off when not in the house. No garbage to be left indoors when bin is full. Garbage receptacle is in the designated area within the gate. Garbage is picked up on Wednesday mornings.

Call in ALL False House alarms (if house alarm goes off in error) to the Security company, number on Alarm keypad, local cell phone provided. Password will be given on arrival. Failure to do so will result in $150 fine from company to the guest. Local cell phone is provided for your use.

So where do we begin. Everything from start to finish was so perfect with this precious gem of a home. We were greeted by both Alonzo and his son who welcomed us with some ice cool water and chips with salsa which was a treat after a long flight. Alonzo gave us a tour of the home and provided us with some great restaurant suggestions and specific need to know info about the home. The home is extremely clean and well taken care of, it is beautifully decorated (kudos to Charlene!) and is fully equipped with literally everything to keep you comfortable during your stay. A special thanks to Charlene for introducing us to Abdu, that was a real treat for us connecting with someone from back home and we spent a good few nights chatting with him. Mark my word, if you are looking for a private, quiet and safe getaway then this is the place to be. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer however we will keep the both of you in mind on our next trip to the island! Peace and Blessings!

What a wonderful experience we had at Alanzo and Char's home. We were greeted by them on our arrival and they were both wonderful people. They gave us a walk through of the home, told us everything we needed to know and answered questions we had. While we were chatting, Char noticed we didn't rent a car and took the initiative to call her contacts to set up a pickup for us on our departure date to the airport! The photos on the posting does not do it justice - the space is a lot larger than it seems. And they two of them have really made it a home away from home. They had everything you would possibly need from a wide selection of movies, board games (Scrabble!!!) , a pingpong table, pool, warm water outdoor shower, beach towels, hammock, BBQ, washer and dryer, dishwasher, and a kitchen stocked with basic cooking and baking needs. I loved my time at this home.

We stayed for a week at Poinciana Place. It was amazing! The house is very spacious, and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed having a BBQ and kitchen to cook our own meals when we felt like it. The neighbourhood is very quiet. There are dogs that like to howl at night, but it was far from annoying and actually pretty entertaining. We definitely recommend renting a car for the entirety of your trip. Blue Hills, the neighbourhood that the rental is located in, was our favourite part of the island we visited. We really enjoyed eating at Da Conch Shack, and visiting Malcom beach was the highlight of our trip. Usually there were only a couple people there, and there is some pretty great snorkelling areas. The road to get there is a little rough (especially in our small Japanese compact rental), but after our first time navigating it we got the hang of it. On our first night, Charlene prepared us an amazing dinner that was one of the best meals we had during our trip. She also gave us a lot of helpful advice on what to do on the island. This was one of my favourite Airbnb experiences, and we definitely recommend staying here if you get the chance to!

Thank you for taking the time to be with us. Blue hills is a peaceful place off the beaten path, great for getting away from the resort crowds and traffic. It is also has 4 large schools some distance away so if leaving the house between 8-8:45am in the mornings there is a bit of what we call 'traffic', nothing like the big cities but the wait is around 8-10 minutes slow driving. The best time to get out is before 7:30am and after 9am and you will see no traffic at all. We are happy you enjoyed the house and the neighbourhood. See you soon. Alanzo

Alanzo and Charlene are fantastic hosts. They always made sure we had what we needed, and if we didn't, they procured it. Alanzo, when we arrived, gave us recommendations for everything. Walked through the house, pointing out all the features. I wish more hosts were as thorough as these two. I hope that Poinciana Place can return to it's glory, after Irma.
