Full of nature’s spring colors. Our studio style cottage with loft/bedroom sleeps 6 easily & our six acres of mixed pine and oak woodlands (with 2miles (3km) of walking and biking trails, seasonal creeks, meditation benches, ball field, treehouse, playhouse. Close to Columbia State Historic Park and Railtown 1897, Sonora shops & theaters, Black Oak Casino, Pinecrest Lake, Stanislaus & Tuolumne Rivers. Plus Yosemite Valley 2 hours away.

Le logement
Private guest cottage on seasonal creeks (run fall through mid summer). Cottage mostly hidden from the main house, has deck, full kitchen, full bath, wood stove, electric heat, cooler, high speed cable internet and more.
Studio style ground floor with queen bed for couple, plus child's bed. Sleeping loft/bedroom with queen bed for second couple, and landing with queen futon and full futon for 2-4kids, acts as a bedroom/bunkroom. Folding desk on landing for work or play. Kids use sleeping sacks/liners, that are laundered along with bed sheets. Easily sleeps 4-6+. Extra kid's bed downstairs doubles as day couch. 2 couples with 4 kids work out well.
Nicely equipped kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, blender, large refrigerator, slow cooker, BBQ. Farmers markets in summer for local produce. Grocery 5-10 minutes away.
Unique trail system on six acre woodland at nearly 3000 ft (1000 m) elevation, good for strolling, exploration, walking, meditation, mountain biking and nature adventures. Grass ballfield for soccer, volleyball, and more plus horseshoe pit and bocci court. Soon to have disc golf course through the woods... challenging but fun!

Lights added around the ballfield for evening play or social events. Path lights run from parking, to the guest house, to the ballfield and beyond.

Our tap water comes from melted snow via the SF Stanislaus River, above Pinecrest... tastes great!

Enhanced Safety: We follow CDC guidelines to clean, then, to sanitize all the touch surfaces. We will have extra sanitizer available plus masks. We recommend wearing masks when doing shopping, and sanitizing prior to returning to the cottage. Social distancing is pretty easy on 6 acres. So far, our county has had only two cases of COVID-19.

Accès des voyageurs
Over 2miles (3k) of trails for walking, mountain biking or exploring. Now with high speed cable internet (28Mbps down, 11Mbps up). Cell booster for better mobile phone reception. Analog cable line for free nationwide calling. Ballfield for soccer, volleyball and more. Pitch for horse shoes. Soon disc golf.
Kids' adventuring along creeks, up into treehouse, or playhouse with slides and sand pile with kids tools, toy trucks and tractor. Meditation benches along paths for contemplation.
Use of trails and creeks, as well as cottage, requires guest acceptance of risks of possible injury. We require helmets for any riders using our practice bike park. Trails have "ride arounds" for nearly all jumps and drops. Adult supervision needed for younger children. Bring your bikes to practice, longer bike trails by Lyons Reservoir, New Melones and Pinecrest.

Autres points à prendre en note
Like many hosts, we live here too, and hope you have a fine time, while also respecting our neighbors, now also your neighbors. Quiet time 10 pm.
Have fun, play safely, enjoy these woodlands, as our kids did while growing up here.
Traveling from the SF Bay Area? Often it's best to drive late morning or early evening to miss traffic. Usually it's OK with us to check in early and to stay into the afternoon.
Thanks, Ken & Trish

Ken is a retired family physician, last working for a tribal health center by Yosemite. Trish works as a renal dietitian. We travel to visit children and grandchildren, with a son up by Lake Tahoe, his twin, a bike mechanic and enduro mountain biker, racing nationally, a daughter doing graduate work in agro-ecology and moving back and forth between Chile and California, an older daughter with our two grandchildren and an MBA, and an older son who is a certified Mac geek. We enjoy staying at air bnbs, so thought we'd enjoy hosting too, inviting guests to our six acres of oak woodlands in the Motherlode Gold Country. Ken volunteers as a "Cal Naturalist", trained through UC Extension, working primarily as a river guide/educator, teaching about watershed issues, salmon, river ecology, along with river safety, rafting and canoeing. As a family, we snowboard, tele ski, raft, canoe, sail, fly fish, mountain bike, cut firewood, hike, travel (We lived a year in Whakatane, New Zealand), & more. Our personal practice centers on mindfulness and loving kindness. As guests, we try to leave a place neat and clean, like "Leave no Trace" backpacking. Minor problems, like a stuck toilet, I will handle... As hosts we provide a lovely six acre woodland, kid friendly ball field, biking and walking paths, creeks, with natural adventures. Adults like the park-like grounds for meditation or simple solitude. The Cottage can be a hang out or a base for day trips. We enjoy sharing as both guests and hosts, Thanks, Ken & Trish
