This is where you run to from the buzz for peace, space, seclusion and stars. Our rugged old farm house nestled right at the foot of the Akkedis Mountains is ideal for a rural Overberg farm style escape.
The seclusion and quiet amoung unspoilt nature is what makes this place special.
The 300 year old sheperds hut, later enlarged for farmers and their ever expanding families, is a good 23km away from the closest village, Stanford, and 5km off the main road on a gravel trail leading to the deepest corner of a selfsustaining farm along the Boschriver valley. You'll be living 1,5km from your hosts, the closest and probably only people.
The rustic farmstyle house is set snugly where the bread-and-beer-basket wheat fields - radiant green in winter and golden in summer - meet the foot of the Akkedisberg Mountain range - a fynbos paradise famed for its biodiversity and part of the World Heritage Site of the Cape Floral Kingdom: a magestic variety of extremely rare and unique wild flowers.
Facing the daily sunset spectacle from a grassy hill, the large sandstone deck is ideal for a tranquil glass of local wine. Braai would follow spontaneously among the trees, birds and frogs. And then the stars...
Inside, for when it's cooled down and the bellies are bulging, is a huge lounge and fire place, stocked with wood, books and boardgames. The kitchen and dining room is basic and faces east, with a beautiful view of the mountain. The single bathtub and separate loo, serves the 5 comfy sized bedrooms.
An epic picnic spot by the river is 400m away, with a wonderful ice cold swimming pond under two old oaks, from where or to where the hiking and cycling adventures could lead. Numerous farm and mountain trails come together here and exploring is encouraged in all directions.
Winter or Summer, a couple of days here will have you leave rested, rejuvinated, likely sunburnt, stiff muscled and planning your return.

Your host lives on the farm part time, and is always available if needed, but you’ll mostly be left alone once you've been shown the way.
By advanced arrangement we could have you over for dinner and cater for the group according to your demand.
Guests will also be welcome to experience the life and labour of maintaining a farm, tending to livestock, beekeeping and facing the elements.
We also offer guided fynbos 4x4 trips and will supply maps for local adventures as well as ideas for activities and entertainment nearby. There are a couple of wine cellars and farm restaurants on route to the closest towns in all directions. And each of Stanford, Napier and Elim have their own unique magic to discover.
The closest supermarket is 25km away. Plan catering well and thoroughly. The Kitchen has a big fridge freezer for all your supplies.
Water supply is rain water from the mountain. Its brownish in colour, safe to drink, but sometimes smells of sulphur. If like most people you prefer bottled water, be sure to stock up before you arrive.
We liberally supply firewood for the braai - enough for a weekend, additional wood can be bought here.
