History Museum
“This dazzling museum at the foot of the Acropolis' southern slope showcases its surviving treasures. The collection covers the Archaic period to the Roman one, but the emphasis is on the Acropolis of the 5th century BC, considered the apotheosis of Greece's artistic achievement. The museum reveals layers of history: ruins are visible in its floor, and, through floor-to-ceiling windows, the Acropolis is always visible above. The surprisingly good-value restaurant has superb views; there’s also a fine museum shop.”

“Athens National Gardens, also called Royal Gardens, are the largest breath of fresh air in the city center. Located right behind the Greek Parliament, the Gardens extend all the way to Zappeion, the first building to be erected specifically for the revival of the Olympic Games in the modern world. Just a short walk away is the Panathenaic or Kallimarmaro Stadium, where the 1869 Olympics took place.”

Cultural Center
“This is a new amazing addition to this city and it is the Stavros Niarchos Foundation largest single grant. It was completed in 2016 and on 23rd February 2017 was transferred to the Greek State and by extension, to Greek society. This incredible building houses now the National Library of Greece and the Opera house, which will be equipped with the latest technological advancements. It also has training rooms, practising rooms, bullet rooms, archives, libraries, children play areas, study areas, computer rooms etc. But equally amazing is the Stavros Niarchos Park, which is a vital green space in a city with the lowest per capita green space in Europe!! Visitors can rest in specially designed seating areas or explore a nearby circular labyrinth! Children can play in the creative playgrounds of innovative design! The whole centre has been named Best International Project of the Year in the 2016 UK Building Awards and was awarded with many more honours since then. Location: Andrea Siggrou 364, Kallithea 17674”

“The Temple of Olympian Zeus is a colossal ruined temple in the center of Athens dedicated to Zeus, king of the Olympian gods. Its construction dates back to the 6th century BC during the rule of the Athenian tyrants, who envisaged building the greatest temple in the ancient world. However, it was not completed until the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD some 638 years after the project had begun. During the Roman periods, the Temple of Olympian Zeus was renowned as the greatest temple in Greece and housed one of the largest cult statues in the ancient world. ”

“For romantic evenings, gorgeous sunsets and an amazing panoramic view of Athens, Mount Lycabettus is an incredible adventure. As the highest point in Athens, it allows visitors to see all across the Attica basin and the Aegean Sea. Climbers can also see as the chapel of St. George from its peak. A little cafe here will serve up a fantastic dinner for two. To start the hike, visitors go up the path that begins at the end of Aristippou Street in Kolonaki. The path continues to wind upwards around the mountain. Visitors can also take the funicular, which departs from Ploutarchou and Aristippou Street.”

“Located just off of Monastiraki Square, at the metro's exit, this flea market is a staple of the Athenian shopping scene. It's especially popular for antique collectors, but you can also find trinkets like colorful beads and souvenirs, the ubiquitous Greek leather sandals, international clothing brands, outdoor goods, records and musical instruments and everything in between. ”
