Mosque
“It is one of the two national mosques, the other being Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque. Construction works began in 1988 on a 20-acre site in Kiarong and the mosque was inaugurated on 14 July 1994 with the Sultan attending the Maghrib and Isha prayers in conjunction with His Majesty's 48th birthday celebration. The mosque can accommodate 5,000 worshippers at a time, making it the largest mosque in the country. The mosque has 29 golden domes and four minarets with height of 58 metres which is approximately 190 feet.”

“The Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex (Yayasan Complex) is one of the various infrastructural development projects coordinated by Yayasan. Standing magnificently on a strategic area between the two pinnacle symbols of Bandar Seri Begawan which are the Omar ´Ali Saifuddien Mosque and Kampong Air, Yayasan Complex is the centre of attraction to the public and tourists. The Yayasan Complex is one of Yayasan´s investment projects in the areas of Real Estate whereby a huge portion of the investment returns will be used to finance the charity events and projects coordinated by Yayasan. Each of the tenants is indirectly involved in ´investing´ for the well-being of the people of Brunei Darussalam. This complex was officially opened by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu´izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam on 4 Rabiulakhir 1417H corresponding to 19 August 1996. Built on the bank of the Brunei River with an area of approximately 4 hectares, the Yayasan Complex is one of the biggest commercial centres in the vicinity of Bandar Seri Begawan. The Complex is comprised of 4 buildings that are divided into 8 blocks with a floor space of approximately 110,350 square metres. Also known as ´One Stop Shopping Complex´, the Yayasan Complex provides several commercial activities under one roof such as office, supermarket, bank, boutique, clinic, cybercafe, bookshop, food court and restaurant. Besides that, the complex has also provided several of other facilities such as surau, exhibition hall, multi-purpose hall, public toilets and parking lots which can accommodate about 1,500 cars.”

“It is the ICONIC 'Pasar Malam' (Night Market) that opens 4PM onwards offering you the cheapest yet clean and FULFILLING food! Have a taste of our culture and try every single thing that catches your attention. I really recommend the Roti Johns, the Kueh Malaya, traditional Malay cakes like Kek Bingka Susu, Kuih Kusui and the kuih ardam! Try the teh-c special and keropok lekor! You won't regret. We have local fruits sold at this market as well if that sparks any interest.”

“Tamu Selera is closest to the center of Bandar Seri Begawan with a location right across the Terrace Hotel and just a short walk from The Capital Residence Suites. This night market is tented and ample seating for you to enjoy the local fare. The food is cheap and tasty particularly the Ayam Penyet.”

“For something more exotic and traditional, this place is a bazaar of food, fruits, vegetables, crafts and hard-to-find medicinal plants. Its a snapshot of what Brunei used to be before shopping complexes took over most people daily groceries shopping.”
