“At 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome is the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is the highest point in Tennessee, and the third highest mountain east of the Mississippi. The observation tower on the summit of Clingmans Dome offers spectacular 360° views of the Smokies and beyond for visitors willing to climb the steep half-mile walk to the tower at the top. On clear days views expand over a 100 miles. Unfortunately, air pollution often limits viewing distances to under 20 miles.”

Restaurant italien
“Best Pizza in town! During summer it is usually packed with train riders. My best advice is to call an order in to go or there is now a side bar that is 21 & up only. It has a cool rustic vibe and the full menu is available. ”

“If you want to see the Elk in the park this is your best bet. It is a beautiful drive over the mountains through the park towards Cherokee. The elk have been hanging out in this area for a few years. During the fall is a great time at the rut is on and you can see the bulls vying for the harem. If you are lucky you will hear one bugling. ”
