Jardin de sculptures
“The Magic Gardens spans three city lots, and includes indoor galleries and a large outdoor labyrinth. It is a giant piece of art you can walk through and explore nooks & crannies. It is whimsical & facinating. To date, it is the largest work created by mosaic artist Isaiah Zagar. They host fun events, DIY art nights, live music & BYOB. Check the website calender for more information. ”

Hôtel de ville
“I always pass through here on the way to visit my parents or just getting to the other side of town. It's a great building, full of architectural details. Dilworth Park, on the west side, has an ice skating rink in the winter and a run through water fountain in the summer. Love Park, across the street at the end of Ben Franklin Parkway, has the LOVE sculpture and a great view up the parkway to the Philadelphia Museum of Art (with the Rocky steps). A great place to hang out and take a break.”

“Far away from the gaudy spectacle of Pat's and Geno's, Jim's offers a much more subdued experience. The cheesesteaks themselves stand out as the star here. Melissa recommends getting the fried onions and provolone, while Ed gets his with Cheese Whiz. ”

Quartier
“The birthplace of American independence, this now modern neighborhood is best known for its major Colonial-era sites. Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and the Betsy Ross House are top area attractions. Many of Old City's residents live in restored 18th-century rowhouses that line some of the country's oldest streets. Nightlife options for fashionable crowds include trendy eateries and bars along South 2nd Street.”

History Museum
“Elfreth's Alley is a National Historic Landmark with homes dating back to as early as 1702. It's history is interesting, the homes are beautiful and people actually still live there. Situated in Old City Philadelphia, it is comprised of about 35 homes and will leave you plenty of time to see the other colonial-era sites such as The Liberty Bell, The Betsy Ross House, and Independence Hall. There are also plenty of trendy restaurants and shops and in the summer time a Farmers Market on Thursday evenings on 2nd St just south of Market.”

“Philadelphia’s newest museum brings to life the world-changing American War of Independence through an unmatched collection of artifacts, including weapons, documents, personal items, works of art and General George Washington’s headquarters tent. With powerful films, digital touchscreens and historical vignettes, the museum recreates the drama and the details of the country’s dramatic birth etc. ”

“El Vez is a Mexican restaurant with some truly over-the-top, tacky decor. The food is excellent, but getting a table is difficult without a reservation. Getting a spot at the bar may be your best bet. The margarita options are all wonderful, but the frozen blood orange margaritas are worth the wait. El Vez is about a 10-minute cab ride away.”
