  • Lovely wooden cabin, beautifully constructed and well insulated situated on a lovely lakeside setting with views of Mt Leinster. Host was very accommodating and helpful. Highly recommend for a retreat from the hustle and bustle.

    Eugene2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for 2 days and loved every minute of it. Cooked dinner every day beside the lake and had breakfast at sun rise. Would definitely recommend Tom's place, it's just so quite and relaxing and Tom was an excellent host. I will definitely be back.

  • Had another great stay at Tom's cabin. It's so peaceful and relaxing and a great spot to get away from the city for a night or more. He left us delicious croissants, cereal, fresh milk and jam for our breakfast which we enjoyed sitting in the sunshine by the lake. Will definitely be back again, love everything about this place!

    Tara2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Tom's cabin by the lake was one of my favourite airbnb stay so far. He was so welcoming, friendly and helpful and answered any questions we had. The cabin was newly built by Tom and he did a great job, it's beautiful. Perfect size for a couple or single person. Kitchen and bathroom is stocked with everything you might need. He left out Ferrier Roche on the bedside locker and milk, wheatabix, orange juice, tea and coffee for breakfast which was a nice touch. It's really warm and cosy at night and the bed is one of the comfiest I've ever slept in. The BBQ we brought wasn't working so he let us borrow his and while we were gone moved the picnic bench beside the cabin for us. The next day he helped set us up for a couple of hours of fishing by his lake and I caught my first ever fish! We had a great time here and are already planning our next trip to Tom's cabin in the summer.

    Tara2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Tom's cabin is the perfect place if you are looking for peace and quiet. Check in was seemless, the cabin was beautiful, spotless and exactly as described. Tom provided us with fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee, milk and cereal on arrival. The view of the lakes is stunning and there isn't a sound to be heard at nighttime. We loved our stay and will certainly be back again.

    Rebecca 2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had a short, but great stay. Everything like we wished for. Beautiful location and nice owner. Would recommend!

    Rutger2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure to stay in Tom's place. It is very calm and quiet with the lakes to look upon. Tom met us on arrival and showed us everything that we needed. The lodge is really clean and has everything you need providing that you can barbecue. The shower is just amazing! The bed is comfortable too. We drove to the Waterford Greenway for a cycle which is about 45 mins away. The area is lovely and calm and we felt that our bikes were secure. The only thing is that if there are people fishing then you will have less privacy but they take no notice!

    Cabin in the woods
Totally unique granite stone house, with an annexe, hidden down a very long, leafy lane. Very private and very remote, set in the middle of rural Wexford, far from the madding crowds. Ideal for artists, writers or anyone just wanting to totally de-stress from the pace of modern life. Children have over an acre of land to explore and pets are very welcome. Our place is eco-friendly; we use wood pellets used for central heating and solar panels for heating water.
This really is a unique, remote old stone house. The entrance lane is just about 1 km long (over 1/2 mile) and is the only way in an out; so you will be secluded. Once at the grounds there is an acre of land, including a pond (dry in summer), a play area for kids (playhouse, trampoline and swing), old stone ruins, purpose built BBQ patio and even a private bar area for the adults! The spacious stone patio is ideal for dining outside during long summer evenings. Visitors rave about the relaxed atmosphere and the calmness and seclusion of the house and garden.

  • Fairy tale house! Loads of charm and comfort! This house was perfect for accommodating all of us. Fergal had a nice basket of Cookies, Jams, lemonade, etc... for us when we arrived which was a nice touch. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of spices and everything we needed for preparing meals. The beds are comfortable and the house was really clean. I really wish we could have stayed longer. Very relaxing!

  • This place was perfect. The size of the barn and grounds were brilliant and the walks were lovely. The amenities were fantastic and there wasn't anything we needed.

  • This is a charming house full of homely touches. We had excellent communication with the host and we're well welcomed by Susan. We were amazed to be given such a great start to our holiday and would love to go back. It was way more than we had anticipated.

  • This is a wonderful barn in a secluded location - well worth finding!

    Katie2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about this house and the grounds around it. From beginning to end it was the quiet rural retreat that was offered and we all felt like we had been away for a week even though we were just there for the weekend! The space has been so well considered, and a great balance of comfort, rustic, thoughtful and practical touches kept us relaxed and inspired. We watched sunsets, moon rise and the stars from different vantage points and snoozed on the hammock. Brought food with us and had no need to leave until it was time to go home. We will definitely be back ! Thank you Fergal and family for letting us share your home.

    Carol2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay in this property. Communication was great from the start. Sandra met us on arrival and showed us around. She was very friendly and even left trick or treat sweets for the kids for Halloween. The house itself is full of character and charm. It is lovely to sit around in the evenings in front of the stove. The outdoor space is lovely and the kids had so much fun playing in the garden, trampoline and play house. The kids den was a huge hit. They were very happy with the board games, book and DVD collections. We will definitely be back in the future.

He and Aisling gave us a warm genuine welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed their company, beautiful house and garden. Breakfast was tastefully served in the conservatory with homemade bread, scones and jam and freshly brewed coffee. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

  • We spent a delightful week-end in this stunning and spacious house in the countryside. We had access to the whole house so we could cook our meals, and the hosts, a lovely couple, left us supplies for breakfast. The house is beautiful, new and perfectly clean. The beds are extremely comfortables, and everyone (we were 10) get a hot shower whenever they wanted to, with perfect water pressure. Brendan and Claire are organised, considerate and flexible hosts. Very good experience, we would definitively recommend(URL HIDDEN)

  • We had a fabulous time in this immaculate, well equipped, large family home. Brendan and Claire were very friendly hosts with good and timely communication. There were lots of considerate extras like a welcome pack and information pack which was very thoughtful. We highly recommend a stay in this home which holds breathtaking views of the countryside and the night sky.

  • Brendan and Claire made us feel very welcome on arrival. They have a lovely home. A great place to stay especially if you have a big family. However don't be fooled by the cleaning fee. You'll still be expected to clean everything up.

    Paul2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home, very spacious and very homely. Brendan was very helpful and left a lot of food for us to eat and supplies for us to use. Only downside is the house is very rural and the taxi company that Brendan left for us to call wouldn't collect us as they said it was too far away. Other than that though the house was great and very comfortable.

Kennedy Memorial Arboretum (15 minutes) Kennedy Homestead (15 minutes) The Dunbrody Famine Ship (5 Mins) Hook Light House (40 minutes) Dunbrody House (à 35 minutes) Le Wexford Opera Festival en novembre (30 minutes). Le New Ross Piano Festival en septembre (5 minutes).
  • What a wonderful stay we had. The beauty and history here in second to none. Our children loved playing in the lush garden and feeding the miniature horses. The house is absolutely gorgeous and was very comfortable. Alexis made sure we had everything we needed. The location is ideal to visit many areas. We look forward to staying again on our next trip to Ireland.

  • Liz is an excellent host and her home is lovely. We stayed in Liz's house whilst attending a wedding near Enniscorthy. The ensuite room was spacious and very clean. Liz kindly dropped us to the wedding venue even though it was located in the the countryside about 15/20 mins away. The following morning she gave us a lovely breakfast of cereal, local yoghurts and the most delicious scrambled egg and toast. It was a perfect stay and great value - highly recommended.

  • Yvonne and her husband Brendan were perfect hosts, nothing at all to complain about! They have a lovely home, and their dogs were lovely as well. They also gave us a lot of information and tips of which places to see around the country and nice restaurants, and we are greatful for that! We only stayed for one night, our first night in Ireland, but it made a great first impression of the country!

    Hanne2016-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Where to begin? From the moment we arrived I felt like I had known Yvonne's husband Brendon for years. We shared a few stories, a lot of laughs, and a couple of cold ones. The house is immaculate with much attention to detail, including the retro kitchen appliances. I can't say enough about the hospitality of this great couple. If only we could have stayed longer. A must stay if you are ever in the neighbourhood.

  • Yvonne & Brendan provide everything you could want from an airbnb stay: a very warm welcome, beautiful accommodation, ideal location ( however driving to get around is essential ), and every need catered for. I can't recommend staying with them highly enough & we will definitely be back again in the future.

  • Wonderful couple and friendly dogs! Made me miss my Bassett hound Pearl! Such a homey place, we could have stayed and chatted for days. Out in the country side and close to the beach away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Perfect for us. Much enjoyed.

  • Great host. Felt like we were visiting family. The cottage is amazing and bigger than our house at home. Charlotte has thought of every little details that made our stay extra special

  • It was a lovely peaceful place to stay with more space than it looks. We enjoyed our stay which was only for one night. Host was welcoming and friendly. I would recommend this place for people looking for somewhere peaceful

    Charlotte2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Charlotte's place is quite literally a slice of heaven. It is quiet and secluded, surrounded by the beauty of Ireland, yet close enough to the shops and nightlife of Killarney. What a home away from home! She left us the most wonderful strawberries and even eggs and Irish bacon. At night we sat out in her gardens (which are beautiful) and looked the stars. Thank you again for a wonderful stay - I highly recommend it and wouldn't be surprised if I return myself one day!

    Julie2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Charlotte's place was our favorite airbnb in all of Ireland. Charlotte and Bob were super sweet and their place felt like home with the beautiful view of the fields being an added bonus. We are so grateful for the opportunity to meet them and highly recommend their place. Complete comfort and quiet surrounded by the beauty of nature.

  • Charlotte's get away was just perfect! The space was warm and inviting. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and the space was so modern, open, and nicely decorated. The location was not far off a main road and check in was a breeze. In addition to the fantastic space, Charlotte was such a great host - super friendly while giving us a ton of privacy. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend this gem!

  • Monart Lodge is the perfect place to switch off from everything. It is cosy and has the amenities you would expect. It's a pity the weather wasn't good during our stay and we could 't make the best of the surroundings and the terrace! The location is also good because it is very near to Enniscorthy and to the N11, so it is quite well connected.

  • If you are looking to disconnect for few days and relax in the nature this is just the perfect accommodation! Still close to main shops and facilities, it offers a unique tranquillity. The house is very spacious, clean and equipped. Niall's communication was really good and we received all the checkin details before our arrival. We really had a fabulous week end!

  • Such a great experience. Exactly what I wanted.

  • Mary and her family offered their room spontaneously, so there was no need to sleep in the car :)) Tea and coffee could be prepared in our room, the bed was cosy and the bathtube was really enjoyable after the long journey!! Their three dogs brought much life into the house and made us feel welcome :) Definitely recommendable! Thank you guys again!

  • Being a first timer I was wary about being a guest in someone's home but I needn't have worried, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel unbelievably welcome, Mary kindly picked us up from the bus stop in the beautiful village and took us to her home. We were greeted by her fab wee dogs and were shown into our room, which is very tastefully decorated and very clean. The bed was amazing, best nights sleep I've had in ages!! Mary and her family have made us feel like part of the family and we will be sorry to leave. I can highly recommend this air bnb accommodation and can't say how wonderful Mary is. If you book here you will not be disappointed.

    Helen2015-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The place is awesome and Mary is a wonderful woman. It was the best airbnb bed we've ever slept on. The whole atmosphere made us feel like beeing at home. In the evening we tried to find a restaurant in Wexford, which failed. So we could use Mary's kitchen for cooking and she even offered us a big pizza. The breakfast was delicious. The house is in fact difficult to find, so just call Mary and she is so kind that she picks you up wherever you are. We definitely recommend this stay.

    Anastasiya2016-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great directions, and room and facilities all exactly as described. Very clean and tidy room and both Mary and Paul were extremely friendly and welcoming hosts. Had slight heart failure, as their dogs took to chasing the car down the drive!, but otherwise all good and breakfast, although self service, was plentiful.

  • Incredible castle, and outstanding host! We would recommend this to anyone that wants to have a unique experience in Ireland. It's located a short drive from several towns with plenty to do in the area.

  • What an amazing place. I booked it for a family get together in May and rented the whole place out. The castle is finished to an incredibly high standard and the setting is stunning...5* It is a credit to Sean and his family. I cannot fault the stay in any way. I will definitely be back.

    NEILL2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the Wilton castle was the absolute highlight of our trip to Ireland!! I honestly don't know where to start - Sean was an amazing host, very friendly, helpful and happy to tell us the history of the wonderful property. The work that has gone in to this place is just unbelieveable - the interiors are divine, photos don't even do it justice. Quality finishes, wonderful heating and bathrooms and the most luxurious bed and linen ever! This castle is an absolute credit to Sean and his family and has to be seen to be believed. If you're looking for a way to celebrate a special occasion or just feel like a king and queen, look no further than Wilton castle! Highly recommended, just superb!

    stace2016-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sean is a diligent and attentive host. He called on the day of arrival to be certain that travel to the Castle was on track and met us as we pulled in. He was helpful and showed us the castle and answered our questions. We had the entire house to ourselves except the last night and the 9 members of our family felt at home immediately. He shared the history of the castle, his family's involvement and even the legend of the local ghost(s)! The castle is located centrally in southeast Ireland and day trips to Wexford town, Kilkenny, Enniscorthy and Waterford are within an hour's drive or so. It was a very easy drive down from Dublin (less than 90 min). There is local grocery shopping within a 10 minute drive. The kitchen facilities are excellent and the local farms and markets provide fresh eggs, meats and produce, so we were able to prepare wonderful meals with no trouble. The rooms are all en suite and well appointed. The stream in the back of the house provided a beautiful backdrop and several afternoons of relaxing fishing (catch and release). Overall, this was exactly what we thought we would be getting: a very relaxing week in exquisite surroundings. We look forward to visiting again.

  • If you're looking for a true "country estate manor" that is unique, beautiful and full of character then look no further than Wilton. It really felt like we were staying in a family country retreat in the Irish countryside. It's secluded, well equipped, upscale and comfortable. A great stop for a night or two if you are touring Ireland; perfect for several nights away in the countryside; and you can even rent the entire property, which I believe sleeps about a dozen in total. Surpisingly baby-proof/kid-friendly, at least in the Alcock Suite.

    B.J.2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • If it isn't obvious from the pictures, this is the most amazing Airbnb in Ireland. There's no way to prepare for how gorgeous the property is outside the castle - we enjoyed walking the "Dark Path" off the main road. There are cows wandering the fields, and a river in the back. If you aren't yet accustomed to driving narrow Irish roads, don't arrive after dark! There's a supermarket about 15 minutes away, the 13 of us prepared most meals at the house. Our 3 nights at Wilton Castle were an unforgettable highlight in our vacation. Thank you Sean!!

    Natalie2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • This stay actually led to us changing our trip itinerary, since we enjoyed the property so much. Grounds are spectacular, ruins and dungeons a great history lesson. Meanwhile house was modern, well lit and had great comfort. We enjoyed this balance and the opportunity to visit the castle so much that we chose to book additional castles during our trip. However Sean's property remains at the top of our list. Thanks.

Bright new modern home set in the countryside but very central to all major tourist attractions. We are 13km from Wexford town. Easy access to N11 and N25. Johnstown castle is 12km. Horetown House is 8km. JFK park is 29km away. Rosslare europort is 30km. Great location for opera festival. Kilmore is close by. Hook Lighthouse is 39km and "Loftus Hall" is beside the Hook. The Heritage Park is 10km. Dublin airport is 171km from here. We are 1.9km from a village called Taghmon.

  • Really far out but that wasn't so much of a problem for us. We had problems with the app when booking and ended up as a 1 when we were a 2. Same room same everything but it was an extra €25 to add a person which we were asked to pay in cash. That was fine, our mistake. The only difference seems to be having an extra breakfast served in the morning for which an original price of €28 going up by €25 seems a bit excessive.

    Richard2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful rooms and fantastic care and attention from Sue. Lovely breakfast on our first morning before setting off to our final holiday destination. Nothing was too much trouble and Sue even provided us with a take-away breakfast on our last morning as we had to leave at stupid o'clock to catch an early ferry. (We stayed on arrival in Ireland and also on our last night on our way back to Rosslare before our ferry sailing.) Sue provided menus for local takeaways and we ate our Chinese and our cheesey garlic chips in the B and B dining room. She and her three young boys are lovely, we didn't meet "Mr Sue" but maybe next time.....because we would definitely stay there again and would recommend to our friends.

    Bev2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay here. Quiet, country stop. Although she had short notice, Sue was prepared for us, quick to reply to our messages. She is a great source of information about attractions in the area, and gave great advice about dinner options. She also prepared a wonderful breakfast for us.

  • Brendan & Claire have a lovely home and both made all of our family feel very welcome during our weeks stay. Their house is a great size and we loved the upstairs seating area and conservatory (many an hour was spent reading and looking out at the views!) The house is in a good location in Ireland and we were able to travel fairly easily to a lot of different places. Our stay was during the Easter break and we really appreciated the kind breakfast and Easter treats left for us. Our hosts were always on hand for anything we needed and gave us advice on places to visit and places to grab something to eat. We would certainly recommend Brendan & Claire's house and would stay again. Thank you!

  • Brendan was absolutely fabulous! He took us in with a last minute reservation and greeted us upon arrival. He brought us breakfast goodies, provided driving directions, gave pub recommendations, and was available for any questions that came up during our stay. The house is lovely and clean and full of gorgeous views of Co. Wexford. Plenty of space for 8 of us and a huge kitchen for cooking family dinners. A wonderful weekend getaway!

  • Good location, great for walking and relaxing. We only stayed a night on the way from Rosslare but was perfect for an overnight stay with 9 people and a dog!

  • House is lovely, spacious and modern. Plenty of space for 6 of us. Brendan was pleasant and professional in his dealings with us. He left a few breakfast essentials for us (bread, milk, yoghurts etc) which was a nice touch. Overall a very enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend.

  • Woodville House is most beautiful. Recently and lovingly renovated, it is absolute pristine with amazing period features that had me in awe. It really is just heavenly, so homely and cosy. Gerald and Helen were so accommodating, upon arrival tea was served with delicious homemade shortbread and homemade lemonade for my daughter. She was highly entertained with jigsaws and books by a big log fire in the drawing room. Breakfast was just divine including fruits from the garden beautifully poached, creamy porridge, an Irish breakfast, homemade bread and lots of warm tea. The owners at Woodville could not do enough for us. Our stay in this amazing, extradionarily warm home (for a house of this size) was really wonderful and excellent value for money. We will be back.

  • We had a wonderful time staying at Helen and Gerald's family home, and we only wish we could have stayed longer. As the pictures show, their home is in the midst of the most idyllic scenery, and one can easily wander around the gardens, forest and farmland for hours on end. Gerald was a fountain of knowledge with tips for travelling on further, and we didn't regret the decision to follow his advice by going to the Hook Peninsular (only a 40 minute drive to the south), which provided some of the most stunning seaside views one could ever see. The breakfast Helen cooked in the morning was delicious, and set us up for the rest of the day without needing to think about lunch! All in all, an 11 out of 10 stay.

    Benjamin2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house and gardens, we really loved our stay, and would return in a heartbeat. Everything was exactly as described, and Helen and Gerald were very welcoming hosts, and provided a delicious (and plentiful!) breakfast, including homemade preserves and bread. There's a lovely gastropub called Mannions within walking distance too, which was perfect.

    Catherine2017-08-06T00:00:00Z

  • I had a marvellous experience staying with Helen and Gerald, the house and garden are magnificent, the bedroom sumptuous and above all, both are so welcoming and generous with their time. Really enjoyed talking to both H and G and had the most fantastic breakfast, Irish pinhead oatmeal with cream, home made soda bread with homemade jams and Aga-cooked bacon, eggs and mushrooms. My best meal in Ireland so far. Do go!

    Nell2017-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much Helen, it was a great pleasure to spend some hours after the wedding at Woodville! Besides taking a wonderful bath in with the view of that tree I loved your truly home made Breakfast and to stroll through all the rooms and the gardens. Best wishes, Chinook Ulrich Schneider

  • We highly recommend a stay at Woodville House, New Ross, Helen and Gerald were generous hosts, they have a beautiful home and gardens, their breakfasts were delicious and travel advice welcome. It is a central location from which to explore places like Inistioge, Woodstock, Kilkenny, Wexford and Waterford.

  • If Carlsburg did airbnb! If someone can tell me there is a better airbnb than this in Ireland for such great value, I'll be very surprised. Just a night away with a few ppl from work, 5 of us. Helen could not have done more for us to make us feel welcome and at home. Had a fantastic stay in a beautiful house in a beautiful setting. Had a lovely evening spent chatting in front of a roaring fire with my friends after a day sightseeing. Everyone slept well in beautifully decorated bedrooms and very comfy beds. This morning's breakfast can only be described as outstanding. I've only eaten a bag of crisps all day since. the home made honey in porridge! Then there was the homemade rhubarb jam on warm brown bread. Maybe you will deliver more to me in Dublin Helen? Then a full Irish with all the toast and tea we could cope with. I will surely be returning again. The only thing that could have made this better is if we stayed for 2 nights instead of just the one.

  • Lillian and her family (plus dogs!!) were wonderful hosts and prepared a really lovely detached loft next to their family's house with everything you could possibly wish for. It's a pity we only stayed for one night as we would have loved to stay longer. Definitely the best stay of our 14-days-trip around Ireland and always worth a visit. We'd love to come back - and then, hopefully, stay longer. All the best from Germany!

  • The apartment was seperated from Lillian's house but still in her yard. Lillian and her familiy are really nice and really good hosts. The apartment was really nice and clean. We had a small kitchen were Lillian already prepared breakfast for us. The neighborhood is very quite and the landscape is very beautyful. We really enjoyed the stay!

I love Tintern Abbey with its trails and walks. We are located at the mouth of the beautiful Hook Peninsula. Hook Head is magnificent, it is close to Loftus Hall (the most haunted house in Ireland), beaches such as Dollar Bay and Booley Bay, award-winning restaurants and fantastic historical locations. New Ross, Wexford and Enniscorthy are close with medieval Kilkenny and Waterford within a stone's throw. We have fantastic fishing near our house. Traditional Irish music played weekly in our local pub - within walking distance. Story-telling monthly. What's not to love? We love it all - and so will you!

Manolo. España.

We have 2 beautiful Shepherd's Huts in the gardens of our Old Rectory, 3 miles from Borris. Each hut is decorated in rustic style & contains a comfy double bed. Guests may use our state of the art ecocentre kitchen & bathroom for washing and cooking. Breakfast provided! The huts are close to family-friendly activities and great views. . We have recently been selected as one of the 100 best places to stay in Ireland (Irish Times Magazine June 3rd 2017)
The huts at Killedmond are very special. We have two huts located about 20 metres apart from each other that are available to let together or separately(see listing for our Blue Mountain Hut ).The huts are traditional shepherd's huts and contain a double bed, some vintage furniture and a lovely view across the meadow. The huts are fitted with lights and heating. The setting is very tranquil and quiet. The huts are located in the grounds of The Old Rectory, a Victorian home. We have converted a barn space into a contemporary shared space complete with wet room, bathroom and toilets as well as an open plan kitchen space with long dining table and magnificent views out into our water garden. Guests staying in the huts may use this barn to wash and cook. It is about 100 metre walk to the barn from the huts along an old beech tree lined avenue which is lit up at night. Breakfast is provided for guests to help themselves to in the barn in the morning (bread, fruit, eggs, butter, bacon, teas and coffee). Help yourselves, and on cool mornings ,sit around the wood burning stove and relax !
We live under the beautiful Blackstairs Mountains. Your hosts are professional walking and foraging guides and there is scope to book a tour with them, for further information please visit (URL HIDDEN) There are plenty of outdoor pursuits in this unspoilt part of Co. Carlow. There is lots of cycling, kayaking and walking locally. Borris village is only 4 km away and is home to some wonderful pubs, tearooms, restaurants. If there is something you are particularly interested in doing, please ask us! We may be able to arrange it.

  • I had the most wonderful stay at Blackstairs in the blue mountain hut. Robert picked me up from my train in Bagenalstown, and both Mary and Robert dropped me back at the station at the end of my stay. Both the hut and the barn are beautiful, cosy and comfortable, with everything you could possibly need. Breakfast and tea/coffee provisions were great. The setting is gorgeous and it's lovely to be in the country and hear the birds. Mary, Robert, and their extended family are all very warm and engaging people. I didn't want to leave and I can't wait to go back.

    Megan2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • from the moment I arrived I felt welcome; Mary's husband Robert gave us such a warm greeting and this was my introduction to an eco-friendly, interesting, warm and hospitable household. They both did everything possible to make our holiday most enjoyable. We cooked for ourselves each evening in the very well equipped barn kitchen and slept in the cosiest bed with fresh crisp linen (was there ever a shepherd treated so well). Mary's gardens and wild meadow fields are a delight of colour with nature's abundance. I'd love to return!

  • We spent four nights staying in a variety of alternative/glamping accommodation across Ireland and this was our favorite. Mary greeted us warmly and generously provided us with a bottle of wine and provisions for breakfast! The Shepherd Huts were beautifully decorated and very comfortable with fresh bed linen. The best part of the stay was the use of the converted barn where the fire had been lit for us. It was a lovely, calming space where we prepared out evening meal. The gardens are immaculately kept, with room for the kids to explore and an outdoor seating area to enjoy the sunset. Mary runs foraging tours from the venue and there are plenty of books on hand to learn about the various plants in the area. We just spent one night here but we didn't want to leave. We went on to walk up nearby Mt. Leinster which affords dramatic views over the surrounding counties.
