Cochise : réservés à l'instant

A spacious get-away nestled amidst desert trees in view of the breath taking Dragoon Mountain range. Living room, kitchen, dining room, bathroom and bedroom spaces. 12 foot by 32 foot roofed patio allows for indoor/outdoor living. The only sounds you are likely to hear are those of the coyote and other desert friends. There is a telescope available to view the amazing night skies. We also have a ground set fire pit for roasting marshmallows and enjoying the mountains at night.
Plenty of comfy space and large windows for panoramic views of the desert and mountains. Privacy provided by trees that abound on the property. A metal roof covers a concrete porch area that provides a Weber grill and dining and patio furniture for your comfort. There is a copper bowl fireplace on the patio. You are at the base of the Dragoon Mountains and under a sky in which the Milky Way is visible on clear nights.
You are only 15 minutes away from our little town of Sunsites, where just about anything you want or need is available (Lorraine's Patisserie, a Dollar Store, a Beauty Salon that offers manicures/pedicures, massages, and facials,...). There is a grocery store called the Produce Wagon that stocks most food needs for all types of diets (Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten Free and Lactose Intolerant) only 15 minutes away on Hwy 191. Within a half-hours time, you can visit the historical town of Willcox. Little more than an hour in any direction are a variety of sites, such as Tombstone, Bisbee, Kartchner Caverns, Fort Bowie and the Chiricahua Mountains. We have nine wineries within this area for those who enjoy trying wine made from locally grown grapes. There is a general store/gas station in the town of Sunizona. It is recommended that you fill up when passing through Benson or Willcox.
  • We loved it here. It's beautiful and quiet and provides easy access to Cochise Stronghold.

  • This space is perfect for nature lovers and birders. The night sky was awesome in clear, cold weather. From our dining spot we could bird from the windows seeing over a dz species drink from the irrigation lines in the mornings. The owners have thoughtfully stocked the kitchen with paper products, spices, coffee and there is info on the area. We had been to this part of AZ before and staying here gave us more time to visit the Cochise Stronghold and Willcox. Felt like we were in a little dollhouse.

  • This was our first time staying at an RV. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous before our arrival but we had a great stay! I feel like the pictures do not do the place justice. It was very clean, comfy and airy. The hosts are wonderful people and they made the place really comfy and thought about every small detail. Goes without saying, the location is still the most amazing thing about the place. The property is right next to Cochise Stronghold and you have beautiful views of the place from your backyard. It was very nice making a fire in the outdoor pit and take in the views of the Stronghold.

  • Lovely spot! The stars were amazing so I hope you are there on a clear night. The hosts were incredible, great communication and flexible on arrival time. We saw lots of wildlife and the views were beautiful! You won't be disappointed!

  • Ron and Theresa were great hosts, the location is amazing, the sunsets and sunrises were breathtaking. If they'll have us, we'll be back. We had an amazingly relaxing weekend here.

    Sara2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Theresa's place, Nancy's Nest, is a wonderful off-the-beaten path location. The place was well set up and has the most amazing unobstructed back yard view. The peaceful location is well worth the dirt/gravel road travel. The place is well stocked for cooking which I would recommend as it's a long drive to find a good restaurant.

  • This was a very peaceful, comfortable and beautiful place to stay! If you are seeking quiet and solitude surrounded by immense beauty of dessert nature I highly recommend this place! The views of the mountains and night sky were delightful! The accommodations in this RV were very comfortable. The large front porch was wonderful to enjoy the view with very comfortable sitting areas to enjoy meals to read, draw, yoga and morning coffee. There were many beautiful birds and wildlife. The full moon setting behind the mountains was magnificent! I do recommend that you bring your own groceries to make your own meals in this compact well stocked kitchen with great views. There is not much near by for food, that includes dining options. Theresa Lynn and Ron were attentive and very welcoming. They have created a lovely paradise at the base of these amazing mountains!

The Cochise Hotel is in the middle of nowhere but in the heart of the history and attractions of southeastern Arizona. From the Wild West of Tombstone to the Natural wonders of caves and parks. You’ll love the of quaint charm of the turn of the last century and the warmth of old fashion hospitality. The Bed and Breakfast is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), big groups, and there is even a place to keep your horses.
Private rooms, most having bathrooms, are adorned with antiques from the turn of the last century.
The small town of Cochise is very quiet. The closest convenience store is 12 miles away.
  • The Cochise Hotel is a one of a kind Old West experience that is worth the short excursion from I-10. It seamlessly provides one with an experience as though via a time capsule. The rooms are both quaint and interesting with their utilization of authentic items from when the West was young. The place is like a museum, and comfortably like home all in one. Our host was fantastic, generous, helpful, and a great conversationalist. While the near ghost town of Cochise does not have much to provide for activities, it does allow one to take a step from the rush of modern life. I stayed here with my family so that we would be within a relatively short driving distance to Fort Bowie National Historic Site and Chiricahua National Monument. I do hope that someday I will have the opportunity to stay again at the Cochise Hotel. Many thanks to the proprietors that have made such an interesting place for people to stay!

Our private, handmade adobe guest house gives you the conveniences of home, including a compact kitchen, bedroom, and sitting area in a quiet high-desert setting close to Cochise Stronghold. Shower and laundry are housed a few steps away in their own strawbale building. The composting toilet, prepared fresh for each party of guests, is housed in its own close-by private shelter. Your hosts (I and my husband David) live in a hand-built strawbale house a short distance from the guest house.
Our desert homestead consists of three buildings: the guest house, which contains a compact living room, bedroom, and kitchen; the annex, which contains the shower, washing machine, and freezer; and the main house, which houses your hosts. Guests have exclusive use of the composting toilet, which is housed in its own small, private shelter just steps from the guest house, and is prepared fresh for each party of guests. A visit to our guest house offers you the opportunity to enjoy strenuous activity from hiking to rock climbing, or to relax in the desert silence and enjoy a cup of tea and a good book. The guest house, which will accommodate four guests, provides a double bed, a trundle bed, a well-equipped kitchen with microwave, gas stove-top, small refrigerator, and an outdoor grill. Wireless or plug-in Internet are available here. Enjoy staying in an ancient Southwest tradition. Built from hand-crafted adobe block, finished with adobe clay plaster, and with an adobe floor, the guest house offers you an opportunity to experience desert homesteading with modern, earth-friendly conveniences. If you'd like to find out more about us and our homestead, visit our website www (dot) simple-living-today (dot) com . Perched on the eastern Dragoon Mountain bajada just a few miles from the Cochise Stronghold and abutting public lands, the guest house offers unobstructed, panoramic views of our valley and the surrounding southern Arizona mini-mountain ranges, the Sky Islands. We're happy to cook breakfast for our guests for a moderate extra charge. A small grocery store is located in Sunsites, about ten miles away, and large chain groceries are within about 30 miles. You'll also find a cafe and pizza available in Sunsites. We occasionally allow a guest to be accompanied by a pet dog, after which we attack with the vacuum cleaner. We own a cat, who lives with us in the main house, but doesn't spend time in the guest house. Among the opportunities available to our guests are: ~Hiking in the spectacular and historic Cochise Stronghold, just a few miles from the guest house, or in Chiricahua National Monument across the valley. ~Walking out your door onto miles of trails on the wooded slopes of the Dragoon Mountains adjacent to the property. ~Spending time with the thousands of sandhill cranes that winter in the nearby Sulfur Springs Valley. ~Exploring the history of the Southwest at Fort Bowie National Historic Site, old town Bisbee, Tombstone, or the ghost towns of the Valley. ~Visiting Kartchner Caverns State Park, one of the best-preserved and spectacular cave systems in the country. ~Stargazing during our cool desert evenings through air that is some of the clearest in the country. ~Cooking hot dogs or marshmallows over an outdoor fire. ~Relaxing in the quiet as you watch the birds from the front porch.
We love our rural neighborhood for its solitude and elbow room. We have neighbors within a few hundred yards, but also have lots of open space to the north and west of us.
  • Great stay Hosts were fantastic I found the Booking website a little much and did not appreciate all the emails I got reminding me of what to do. And particularly that I could not respond to the booking we bites emails.

  • Barbara and Dave's place is peaceful and lovely. If you love to hike and are inspired by wild and historic places, it is a perfect place to get away. They are generous and attentive hosts and I highly recommend it as a place to stay.

  • We could not have asked for anything different at this unique, peaceful, beautiful spot. It was the perfect place to get away from our busy life, and Barbara and Dave made our stay comfortable, peaceful, insightful, and in truth we are dreaming of living in such solitude surrounded by nature in the years to come. Biggest thanks and hugs to this lovely couple.

  • Staying out there at their wonderful place was amazing. Wish I could have had longer there, but there are too many things to see where they are. They were both so friendly and engaging, and I felt very comfy and welcome there. I recommend this spot.

  • Barbara and David we extradionary host. Our communication prior to the trip made us feel at ease and that everything was going to be ok. Their place, the " bear cave" was a quaint adobe home they built themselves nestled in the Cochise plains. We got the full tour from our host and arranged for breakfast in the morning. We BBQ supper and offered our host to join us but they had already had supper. The next morning we were packing up when David joined us and told us we were late for breakfast. We had forgotten about the time change. Breakfast was excellent with fresh muffins, poached eggs from their chickens and fresh hash brown and bacon! The beauty of this area needs more than an overnight stay it needs a week to enjoy the hiking trails and the knowledge that David & Barbara know of this area. The sunsets are just as beautiful as the sunrises making our stay a pleasant experience in a fully self sufficient home. We recommend Barbara & Davids SE AZ Hiking, Biking and Quietude home a "must go to" place !

  • The Larsons are AMAZING! The property, the craftsmanship, everything about the hosts and the location were just breathtaking and so inspiring, The smell of fresh baked bread as soon as we arrived, the handcrafted everything was just what the doctor ordered for my vacation! The scenery, beautiful, the adobe abode; comfy and cute... The hosts, salt of the earth folk! The kindest, most generous, genuine people, truely made our experience even more rewarding!

  • I can't tell you how much we enjoyed staying here. We were looking for a cozy place to unplug and explore a little bit of Arizona. We were very comfortable in the guest house and loved all of the little touches (including the great library). There is easy access to great hiking from the home and more within a very short drive. And if you are like us, and enjoy learning about simple, sustainable living, Barbara and David have a lot of great experience to share.

This authentic straw bale home affords privacy and gorgeous views of the mountains. As guests, you will be the only people on these beautiful 20 acres of true wild west. Get away for the weekend, work remotely or do some serious reading and relaxing.
Straw bale house, in the high desert at the foot of the Dragoon Mountains. Two bedrooms in quirky, art-filled, comfortable house, 75 miles from Tucson. Perfect base for hiking, birding, star-gazing, exploring, or just plain snoozing in the hammock. This is a spacious, open, straw-bale/adobe house with two bedrooms, a full bath, living room and dining area, and kitchen. It's in a dramatically beautiful, somewhat remote location, at the foot of the dramatically beautiful Dragoon mountains. The house is in a large (20 acre) lot filled with mesquite and other high desert flora. The house's walls are adobe-covered, stacked straw bales, a traditional local building method that provides excellent insulation in summer and winter. There is internet access but no TV; a stay in this house is probably most attractive to people who enjoy reading, writing, hiking, rock-climbing, bird-watching, and gazing at spectacular sunsets behind the Dragoons - in short, the more unplugged activities! The house is simply furnished and decorated with cool, unique knick-knacks and art. There's a decent kitchen with gas stove, coffee-maker and toaster oven, a washing machine, bathtub with shower, and an outdated entertainment system, including a Playstation 1 that (usually!) plays dvds. There's a nice stereo, and no neighbors close enough to judge or complain about the volume. An hour-and-a-half from Tucson, the house is a 20-minute drive to the nearest gas station, family-dollar store, bar, and produce market, all in the small town of Sun Sites, and is about 30 minutes from the slightly more populated Willcox. Nearby attractions include Cochise Stronghold in the Dragoons, where the Apache Chief Cochise held off the US Army for years in the nearby Coronado National Forest (which offers hiking, camping, and rock-climbing), the Kartchner Caverns (an enormous, beautiful, recently discovered cave - highly recommended), the old mining towns of Tombstone and Bisbee, other ghost towns, The Amerindian Foundation's Museum and Gallery, and the Chiracahua Mountains. Guests have access to the house and the surrounding property, but not the adjacent shop or shed. The owners are not present, but a nearby neighbor is available. A stay in this house is best-suited for those who enjoy the out-of-doors (the weather is typical of the high desert) and the peace and quiet of this very rural location. A car is a must, and it's a great area for biking. Or you could bring your horse.

  • Tony's place in Cochise is a little gem! If we could, we would spend a few weeks a year there at least. The Dragoon mts loom, beautiful and majestic in front of the porch, and the Chiracahua are an hour's drive. For lovers of solitude and privacy, this is a perfect spot in the world.

    Valeria2014-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Cochise Stronghold Straw Bale house was such an amazing find for my SO and me. The setting was beautiful, the sunsets were unlike any I've ever seen, and the house itself really felt like home during our stay. We arrived looking for a spot to rest during an extended road trip, and we were warmly welcomed with the perfect retreat for recharging our energy to head back out on the road. Tony was very hospitable, and made sure that we had everything we needed. He even suggested some great local sites to visit during our stay. We explored caverns, went hiking, and visited some nearby ghost towns. I would highly recommend this place for any traveler seeking quiet meditation, escape from the big city, or a little piece of home out there in the desert.

  • I couldn't have been happier about finding Tony and his brother's compound of beautiful sunsets and starry nights! Just what I had hoped for - full service house with solitude and tranquility. Only the quail, horses and roadrunner to talk to. Hiked all around in cochise stronghold and chiricahuas natl monument. There is a lot to do within an hour, I needed more time!! House was clean and homey , cooked every night and had fires. Lovely! Internet worked like a charm- love the on demand gas water heater. Don't know about TV as didn't have it on. If you want a place for you and a friend to stay for hiking, rock climbing, getting lost on dirt roads in a ghost town with tumbleweeds and more in this area, the straw bale home is perfect. Thanks again!!

  • Great house, beautiful scenery, very secluded property. Not a lot nearby, so come prepared. The host was great, the house was very clean and comfortable. Recommended!

    Trevor2014-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • A rad space in a gorgeous part of the world. We found the house tidy and in good shape. Funky decor, well-appointed with everything we could need - we cooked often, used the wood stove, soaked in the clawfoot tub, hung out with the horses, watched movies, stargazed, and enjoyed the quiet. The stove and heater kept us toasty in the cool March evenings, but the insulation and design of the house clearly will keep it comfortable in hot weather too. The mattress and pillows could probably use upgrading, but after long days spent tromping around in all the national parks, forests, caverns, and tiny towns within an hour's drive... it didn't matter all that much! Tony was helpful and easy to reach, regardless of his location. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a desert retreat or adventure base.

    Liz2014-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed in cochise for about 1.5 months for an internship down the road. The place was absolutely perfect while in a beautiful location. An ideal place to just 'get away from life' for a bit. Loved and enjoyed my stay.

    Eugene2016-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed for three weeks at Tony's placed and loved it. It's remote, a little rough around the edges, it's eclectic and - as a previous guest said - it's rad. If you're a creative looking to do your thing, want a place to get away from it all, or need a base to explore the remote parts of SE Arizona then stay here. There are beautiful views of the Dragoon Mountains where you can sit on the expansive covered patio and watch the sun set (as I'm writing this a thunder storm is rolling in over the mountains) and if you're a morning person there's a covered front porch where you can watch the sun rise over the distant Chiricahua Mountains. The straw bale house is well insulated (sort of like an adobe house) but one tip is to close the house doors BEFORE it starts cooling off or warming up outside. In hindsight this seems obvious, but when you're caught up with the views it's easy to forget. There are neighbors scattered here and there, but probably none closer than one mile or so, with plenty of places to walk, bike ride, run or hike. Despite the remoteness of the location the internet worked flawlessly. The few small restaurants in Sunsites (about a 10 minute drive) weren't all that exciting, and Benson and Wilcox seem best for fast food fans. Fortunately Tony's kitchen is really well equipped, so if you're staying for more than a couple of days your best bet is to stock up on groceries in Benson, in Tucson or Sierra Vista. (If you do make it to Sierra Vista and like Vietnamese food be sure to check on the Indochine restaurant - they are well reviewed on Urban Spoon and Trip Advisor.) (Website hidden by Airbnb) will definitely stay here again when my travels take me to this part of Arizona.

Lovely and comfortable adobe, stone and wood home in a remote location in Cochise Stronghold. Peaceful and quiet with exceptional hiking literally at your back door. The Cochise Stronghold Canyon (elev. 5,000 ft), is uniquely situated in secluded woodlands surrounded by granite boulders soaring 7,000 feet. Whether for a casual hiking, climbing or bird watching, the cabin offers a comfortable and serene starting point. Two decks offer different views to relax and watch the wildlife and the stars.
The canyon is famously known as the final refuge (and resting place) of the great Chiricahua Apache Chief Cochise. This rugged natural fortress was, for some 15 years back in the 1860s, the home and base of operations for Cochise and his people. Many wonders await you in the canyon - hiking interpretive trails, bird watching, traversing gentle boulders, climbing world-class cliffs, and incredible stargazing! There are miles of trails to explore the unique ecology and geology of the area. Here you can fill your days and evenings with the honest pleasures of life…you will feel as though you've stepped back in time to experience the enchantment of the Old West. There is campground a quarter of a mile at the end of the road. There, interpretive trails take you amid the boulders and among the junipers and oaks. This canyon has few full-time residents. You may (if you're lucky) see one or two friendly neighbors walking or driving down the dirt road during the day but generally, the canyon is quite secluded and quiet. You'll have full access to the comfortably decorated cabin, including two bedrooms (a queen bed in each). A toddler bed and twin rollaway are also on site. The living room has a floor to ceiling rock fireplace (and a comfortable and sleepable couch). There is also a modern kitchen, a full bathroom and two patios from which to enjoy quite different views. Enjoy a short or extended getaway to benefit from nature's serenity. While we promise it may be difficult to leave the cabin, there are some great local excursions we recommend -- the Amerind Foundation, and local wineries and pistachio farms -- and longer excursions to the Chiricahua National Forest, Bisbee (a quaint and now artsy former mining town), Kartchner Caverns (largest wet cavern in the U.S.), Tombstone (the famed “town too tough to die"), and lots of smaller ghost towns along the way. The property is pet-friendly but it's not wise to let any pet run unattended. We ask that guests stay for a minimum of three nights to offset the cost of cleaning/maintaining the house. If you would like to stay for less than three nights, please send us a message, we'll get back to you. There is Internet/Wifi access, a large flat-screen television with DVD player (no cable/satellite) and a great collection of movies, a few board games, and a small mountain bike to take jaunts down the trails. There are two bedrooms, each containing a comfortable queen size bed. There is also a very nice, quality fold-up single bed with a temperpedic-type mattress in the second bedroom The master bedroom has an ottoman that opens to a child/toddler sleeping mattress. The couch in the living room is one of the most favored sleeping areas. Comfortable bed cushions in the master closet serve as additional sleeping or resting areas.
The hiking trails are magnificent, but one of the best aspects of our house, in particular, is that it is right up against the granite cliffs so you can start hiking up boulders right from the backyard patio. Put on a pair of gloves (in a bin in the laundry room) and have a casual or challenging walk or climb up the canyon. Even a ten-minute walk up through the boulders will give you incredible views of the canyon.
  • The cozy cabin is located in a beautiful secluded canyon. It is exactly as the photos depicted. It is the perfect place to get away from it all yet close enough for easy day trips to the surrounding areas. The cabin was well stocked with all of the essentials and authentically decorated for the area. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book about Cochise as I sat outside on the deck in the Cochise Stronghold where he lived. The night stars are amazing! Our 10 stay day was great and problem free.

  • We had an amazing two week stay at David's house. The surroundings are gorgeous and so peaceful, and the Cochise trail is just up the road from the house. Our son loved playing in the sand out back and sitting on the bridge, throwing rocks into the stream. We took advantage of the fully stocked and lived-in kitchen for all kinds of cooking and baking. It's a great location for day trips to the Chiracahua monument, Tucson, Bisbee, the farmer's market in Sierra Vista... it was a great landing spot if you're looking to explore the area! David was easy to communicate with; check-in and check-out were a breeze. We really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you!

  • David's place was great! We booked this place for over a month and arrived to a fully stocked house with everything we could have needed. Location is beautiful, with an incredible boulder-filled mountainside right out the back, campground down the road, and creek right out front. This place blew us away and we'd definitely book again!

  • The weekend could not have been more perfect! From the time we arrived, Nancy was helpful and accommodating. Since we arrived after dark, she guided us to the Agave Suite which was charming, clean, and just what we wanted. The hot tub was a wonderful treat under a spectacular starry sky, including the Milky Way. I was expecting to have only a kitchenette, but had access to the cook shack which made meal preparation much easier. Thank you so much for the hospitality and sharing your home with us!

  • Nancy has created a luxury accommodation in a remote, beautiful location. We managed to prep all our meals in the kitchenette, dined on the patio or porch. Hiking out the door and returning for a soak in the hot tub gazing at the mountain we climbed...nothing better.

  • The Agave Suite was exactly as advertised. Secluded and quiet. Spent hours watching the birds, chickens and even deer. The stars at night sitting in the hot tube was spectacular. Hiking the Cochise Stronghold trail right up the road was beautiful as was the view from the room. Very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

  • This ranch house was wonderful. So quiet and peaceful and away from it all but also so comfortable! We loved just being there, watching the deer and the birds, and we were thrilled to hear the coyotes at night. We did some hiking from the house itself and also drove over to the very close by campground area to do the Cochise trail. Loved all of it, as did our pup.

  • We had a fantastic experience at Lynn and Jan's place. The house is great, well equipped, and amazingly situated. Isolated and quiet, with beautiful views out the windows and walks out the door. Short drives across amazing scenery take you to other remarkable hikes. The communication was excellent, and our greeting and orientation from Jan was friendly and thorough. We didn't have any problems or questions while we were there, but I had the sense that she would have helped us out and addressed anything we needed immediately. Thanks a lot for a great holiday. We hope to return.

  • Beautiful little bunk house, just as advertised. Rooms were cozy with a fantastic view of the mountains. I'm not a huge fan of the memory foam mattresses, but other than that, it was a great little getaway. The complimentary horseshoes were also a nice touch.

  • We had a wonderful weekend getaway at the cabin! The home was cozy and the property was wonderful. We were able to hike right from the cabin out into the wilderness. The fenced yard was perfect for our dogs to run around and not escape. The cabin is perfect for hikers and anyone who loves the outdoors! Thanks for letting us stay!

  • The Cochise Stronghold Casita is part of a beautiful bed and breakfast tucked into the Coronado National Park. After traveling down a long unpaved road and following the PRINTED directions we found it. The Casita is a 1/bedroom, 1 bathroom little duplex like building. Clean and cozy, the casita feels like home, only better. It is a hay bale built building, with no noise from the guests next door. In floor heating keeps you warm when it gets chilly. It includes a full kitchen with all the cooking and eating utensils you could need. There is a bedroom with a lovely bed that made me feel like I had stepped back in time, as well as a very nice murphy bed in the living room. Other accommodations include a TV in the living room with cable, wonderful artistan crafted soaps, a beautiful clawfoot tub, and a back porch with a lovely fountain and beautiful view. The hot tub is available for all guests use and was just a few steps away from the back door, while just far enough to provide the privacy you'd hope for. It is requested that each guest gets the use of the hot tub privately, so you simply wait until someone is finished. We were very lucky and seemed to be the only guests interested in the hot tub. We weren't sure what to expect so we brought all our own food to cook in the kitchen. Everything is laid out as though a seasoned cook knew exactly where to place everything. Simple items like coffee, creamer, tea, sugar, and cooking oil were available in the cupboards. There is even a dish washer. If you aren't up for cooking, Nancy provides an amazing breakfast and other meals (for a charge). There is a menu provided in the room along with binders full of maps, hiking trails, and other wonderful information. Nancy herself is a wonderful host. She met us as soon as we arrived and showed us around. She made sure we were set and if we needed anything all we needed to do was contact her. The bed and breakfast uses natural building materials as well as solar power and well water. They are very environmentally conscious, and work to preserve the beauty of the area they are in. Nancy was very knowledgeable and was nice enough to show me their solar water heater for the outdoor shower, as well as another hay bale building that is in the process of being built by other owners. It was truly a pleaure to spend a weekend here and we will definitely be back. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to relax in quiet privacy, while reconnecting with nature, but still enjoying all the comforts of modern life. I would recommend bringing some cash to tip the housekeepers. I had very little with me and felt rather like a heel for not having much to tip with (Website hidden by Airbnb)

"Luxury Camping" in a Secluded Mountain Refuge. The yurt provides an opportunity to be present in “nature at its finest” and to fully partake in the magic of the Dragoon Mountains at Cochise Stronghold.
All prices include tax (6.05%) The yurt is a traditional structure – a Mongolian style walled tent. It is 30 feet in diameter (706 sq.ft. + loft) and is made of architectural fabric, hi-tech foil insulation, fir lattice & beam. The floor is made of pine. It comfortably sleeps up to eight people with: 2 queen size beds (high quality mattress) full size double futon two deluxe single beds (both high quality mattresses) The yurt is heated with a propane heater and cooled with an evaporative cooler, an overhead fan circulates the air. The design is ingenious, in the summer hot air rises through a dome which opens and closes. There is electricity inside the yurt, a sink for washing up with hot and cold potable water, a microwave and coffee pot for heating drinks, and a mini-fridge. We ask that you not cook in the Yurt however, but do your cooking in the Cook Shack.

  • This property is magical! Nancy was extremely friendly and gives a great tour of the property. She was great to work with as we added friends to the trip. The yurt by itself was an experience, but it was filled with games and books. They have a fully stocked cook shack and beautiful patio. We enjoyed climbing during the day and relaxed in the hot tub at night. I would definitely recommend you check this place out to give your tent a break!

Peace and quiet is what you will find here in the desert valley. Great hiking and climbing at Cochise Stronghold in the Dragoon Mountains and Chiricahua National Monument. It's a great place to relax and take refuge for a day or extended stay.
The Rancho is a great place to relax with amazing views of the sunrise and sunset over the Chiricahua Mountains and the Dragoon Mountains, respectively. A south facing covered car port and porch is wonderful to spend time outside yet in the shade. You can also take a stroll up the wash and experience desert monsoon erosion.
    There are no nearby neighbors.
  • Lora, Thanks for having us. You place was quite cozy. Once we got use to the place we felt right at home. The place was left pretty clean except the garbage was full. We washed sheets and towels Some dishes. I took a set of Christmas lights off the string because the set of lights had exposed charged wires. We had some serious rain. It seemed to penetrate the back door and left a small puddle. We could not find the origin of the leaky spot. Thanks for having us. Stephen Grant Walker

  • Rancho de Tranquilidad is in a very quiet neck of the woods, perfect for recharging ones battery. The directions to find the place are spot on. A very spacious place. We did not use the TV or fireplace, so cannot comment. Loads of pots, pans dishes etc. Fridge had food in it. Would recommend checking expiry dates on the food but not a biggie. Again place was as we thought it would be. Not fancy in any way, so don't expect it to be. Go with an open mind and plans to relax and you will enjoy it. Lovely hikes within an hours drive or even closer. Play the desert game. Educational!!!

    Katya2016-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lora's home was warm and inviting. We loved all the sofa's and blankets to curl up on, one for each of us, after arriving from our long day of travel. Beds were very comfortable. Kitchen well stocked for making our meals. In the evening we watched the sun set from the front porch and in the morning I watched the sun rise from the back porch. So peaceful! Thank you for making us feel so welcomed in your home Lora.

  • The host did make me feel my family was welcome and communicated well with the arrival arrangements. The listing was accurate and the location is of high value in that this is a remote area with a lot of beautiful attractions.

    Heather2016-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Rancho de Tranquilidad for one night in late November. Lora gave us good instructions to find her house and lots of information about the surrounding area (sightseeing sites, where to find food, restaurants, etc.). This is an older house. First impression was that the main part of the house looked better than the pictures. It was cold when we got there so we checked out the book and also called Lora to find out how to turn on the heat. It turns out that the house is mainly heated by a wood burning stove and a space heater. I think that this should be explained on her listing. Not everyone wants to use a wood burning stove. Once we got it going, it was totally adequate for the main part of the house. But there was only one space heater and there are three bedrooms. If you want a rustic getaway with a terrific view, this is a good place to stay and Lora was a friendly and responsive host.

    Candace2015-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lori's home was exactly what we expected-it had everything we needed and was spacious and very comfortable. Lora provided an electric blanket for us that made the nights warm and comfortable and yummy prickly pear jam to enjoy with our coffee. We especially enjoyed beautiful mornings and evenings on the front porch. We had a wonderful time at her home and in the area. Lora was gracious, responsive and informative. Thank you Lora for your hospitality and rental of your home.

    Virginia2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Rancho de Tranquilidad was exactly as advertised. It is seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but was only a 15 minute drive to the farm our son and his girlfriend are working on. We wanted to visit them for a few days and needed a place to accommodate, on some nights, 5 people. The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a large kitchen, and a sitting room with a wood burning stove. That turned out to be the most popular room as the temperatures dipped down to 20 degrees every night and struggled to reach 50 every day. Between the stove and the space heaters in the bedrooms, we were very comfortable. The house was well-stocked with everything we needed. We were so glad we found this place.
