“Always a lovely place to visit. Especially wonderful when there are markets and events on Emmet Place, e.g. the Midsummer Festival, Cork Jazz Festival etc. Get onto a free Sunday tour if you can - incredibly informative and enlightening. ”

“According to Rick Stein, it's the best covered market in the UK and Ireland. Right in the heart of Cork City Centre -so a bus ride from Crosshaven or 30 mins drive I am not a foodie myself, so I don't quite understand the popularity of this one but people love it. They have a huge range of fresh fish, meat, olives, coffee and other local produce. The Queen of England visited it when she was in Cork (that's when I realised I need to be more of a foodie). I don't think I can represent this very popular tourist site myself very well, so do check out the website and definitely drop in to see it, if you're already in Cork City Centre - it's a "must see" if you come to Cork... apparently! http://www.englishmarket.ie/”

“Corks best known landmark and loved by The Cork people...even though we call it ''the 4 faced liar''. (this is because there are 4 clocks on its walls , and none of them tell the correct time...us Irish don't mind, it's a great excuse to be late) The best part is climbing past the bells and up onto the balcony where you have a great view of Cork City (the passages are narrow in places , and also if you have bad knees or hips it might be awkward)”

University
“Only a 10 minute walk from the city centre to the heart of the university, Stroll around the quadrangle, through the main building where a visitors centre is located on the ''stone corridor'' with ancient celtic Ogham Stones.. (book a fab tour if you can...so informative and so cheap) Go visit the Honan Chapel , with it's beautiful celtic carvings, stained glass windows and mosaic floors. Enjoy the beautiful grounds of the campus...it's all free and a wonderful place If you have heard of Boolean Allegera , the basis of computer language, you may know of George Boole who was professor of mathematics way back in the 1850's. ”
