Château
“The gardens at Tullynally, like the castle itself, dates back over 350 years. The Pakenhams (later Earls of Longford) settled here in the 17th century and three generations still live here as their family home. The layout of the gardens and magnificent parkland date mainly from the early 1800s, but the present owners, Thomas and Valerie Pakenham have added many new features. Check out the website for availability of tours of the castle. It is still a private home but there are at times tours available of parts of the castle. The tour is very interesting. There are tearooms here and you can walk the gardens. ”

“Just outside Slane village is the family dwelling of WW1 poet Francis Ledwidge. Sometimes known as the "poet of the blackbirds", he was killed in action at the Battle of Passchendaele during World War I. A romantic and tragic story told by the in house guide.”
