“Robberg Nature Reserve is just a few minutes drive from Bird Villa. There are picnic tables so even for the "non-hikers" there is a reason to go. Many of the longer trails are un-even and can be rocky/slippery so caution if you're planning a hike. This is a BIG draw to people and is worth a visit....for a several hour hike or even just a short stroll!”

“ The Famous Otter trail is one of the roughest and toughest Hikes in the world that takes you about a week to complete if you adhere to the strict time limit, even if you're not going to take part in it, do go for the day for the views of Storms River mouth, treetop zip lining and river kayaking. This is our favourite National Park in South Africa. ”

This 192000Ha conservation area, a World Heritage Site, is home to an amazing diversity of habitat types and species. From forest yellowoods to karoo bossies, thicket spekboom to fynbos proteas, the Kloof is nature lover's paradise! Numerous campsites and lodges, hiking and 4x4 trails are a must see and keep a look out for the San Art which adorns the pristine cliffs. The Baviaanskloof Mega Reserve Project, an exciting Eastern Cape Government and Wilderness Foundation initiative, is attempting to align and facilitate the conservation of the region's bio-diversity and natural resources, with the agricultural and rural development needs.
