You will help us free fly our falcons on the cliffs of La Jolla at the Torrey Pines Gliderport, a National Historical Place and beloved landmark. In our Experience, offered through Total Raptor Experience San Diego, you'll learn how to call and release one of our trained birds using a falconry glove, and admire their aerial skills while they soar above the cliffs. You'll get an up-close and personal view of their mastery of flight as they perform simulated hunting behaviors, swooping, ground-skimming and diving at high speed after a moving target. At the same time we will discuss raptor flight styles and how they contribute to the diverse ecologies of different types of hawks and falcons. No experience is required. Great for all skill levels. Your guide will kick things off with a paddle tutorial on the beach. If surf exists, we will help push your kayak through any breakers. As we paddle through La Jolla’s Marine Reserve keep an eye out for Seals, Sea Lions, Sea Turtles, Pelicans, Dolphin and Gray whales in the fall/winter. Note: We cannot guarantee sea life. Intimidated by the title of the class? Don't be! Move at your own pace! Classes are catered to all levels of ability. Class begins on the sand with a land lesson that includes brief paddle instruction and discussion how to use equipment and be on the water safely. From there once students are feeling comfortable and secure we paddle out up wind and along the shore and find a safe space to drop anchor and conduct class. Students are then led through approximately 45-60 minutes of yoga poses catered to a paddle board. Then we paddle back calmly drifting down wind back to where we began, on the shoreline. Hello Surfers, and water people! For this experience I am your guidance, and mother ocean will be your teacher. I cater to each persons skill level, so the more advanced surfers I will surf along side of and the beginners I normally swim beside you(depending on condition) I enjoy elements of breath work and meditation to get to the best surfers inside of us. We will meet at the beach where I will have the equipment ready for you and get to know about your path to surfing. After situating into wetsuits we will talk surfing techniques, pop ups, terminology followed by some land practice.
