“Acadia is about a 3 hour drive from Cape Elizabeth, but it’s beautiful and worth the trip. There are many paths to hike with amazing views. ”

“Cadillac is just 14 minute drive from Summertime. Check what time Sunset is and head to Cadillac Mountain after an early dinner. Arriving at least 30 minutes early (but perhaps even an hour or more). This will give you time to walk around and explore the summit path and find the best spot to watch the sun as it sets. I would also recommend bringing jackets in the back of your car - it can get surprisingly chilly at the top. A fleece and windbreaker should do it. Cadillac Mountain is also spectacular for sunrise...”

“An absolute best spot to fine dining on the island. You can choose between fancier Havana or more casual and laid back Havana Perilla (sister restaurant next door) for open kitchen view and "people watching". Thier Mojito's are the best!”

“Best fine-dining on the quiet side. Food and atmosphere are both worth paying a little extra. The duck is amazing! Open Wednesday through Sunday for dine-in and limited take-out, lunch and dinner. New outdoor seating we have not yet experienced but looks lovely, as well as inside seating. Requires a face covering upon entry and exit. Recommend a reservation.”

Trail
“ordan Pond is an oligotrophic tarn in Acadia National Park near the town of Bar Harbor, Maine. The pond covers 187 acres to a maximum depth of 150 feet with a shoreline of 3.6 miles. The pond was formed by the Wisconsin Ice Sheet during the last glacial period. Penobscot Mountain rises to the west, while Pemetic Mountain rises to the east. Two rôche moutonnées known as The Bubbles rise above the northeastern shoreline. The southern end is constrained by glacial debris and an artificial dam. The pond has clear water, with visibility normally 44 feet and occasionally recorded up to 61 feet, the deepest recordings in Maine. ”

“Thuya Garden is a gorgeous flowering garden located on a granite hillside overlooking Northeast Harbor on Mount Desert Island, Maine. It was originally designed and built in 1956 - 1961 by Charles K. Savage, a long-time resident of Northeast Harbor, along with financial support from John D. Rockefeller. The garden exhibits an English style influence with special input from Beatrix Farrand so that it will incorporate the unique character of the Maine coast. A variety of annuals and perennials line the two long sides of the garden. An open observation pavilion sits at the top of a slight incline on the north end overlooking the main garden that cascades down to a shallow reflecting pool below. Thuya Lodge was constructed from 1912 - 1916 by summer resident Joseph H. Curtis, its owner and Boston based landscape architect. The garden was constructed in an orchard also owned by Curtis. A memorial in his honor is located part way up the Asticou Terrace Trail. Thuya got its name from the abundance of white cedar (Thuya Occidentalis) located in the area.”

“The Seal Cove Auto Museum fosters joyful experiences for people of all ages and interests. Their collection features some of the earliest automobiles and motorcycles, as well as clothing and accessories, from 1895 through the early 1920s. They have different events throughout the year that are a great way to connect with the community.”
