Trail
“See the city from the beautiful waterfront areas of the Willamette River. Head East down burnside, and you will eventually get to the river and Waterfront park. Follow riverside walking paths and some of our easy-to-cross bridges, like Hawthorne, Burnside, Steel, and Tillikum bridges to get to the East side paths. You can walk varies routes as a loop, but wear good shoes, it can be a long walk from end to end.”

“Down here you can get up close and personal with the river. There is a dog park down here so expect lots of happy pups running. Picnics are more reliable on the beach or at the upper park”

“A scenic 35 minute drive east on Hwy 14 takes you to the base of beacon rock. From there you can hike a well-maintained trail that takes you up 650 feet in just under 1 mile. Breathtaking views along the way and to the top - there are some steep parts so I recommend a dry day.”

Trail
“Hiking in the Columbia River Gorge is absolutely stunning. There are many awesome hikes and trails, but one of my favorites that offers spectacular views and a good hike but not super difficult is Angels Rest. It is not an easy hike either, but the reward is at the very top. ”

Trail
“The Bridge of the Gods is a steel truss cantilever bridge that spans the Columbia River between Cascade Locks, Oregon, and Washington state near North Bonneville. It is approximately 40 miles east of Portland, Oregon, and 4 miles upriver from the Bonneville Dam. This will connect you over the Oregon side where you can hit up Cascade Locks and eat the most amazing soft serve ice cream at East Wind Drive In (featured in the book, Wild). ”

Waterfall
“Since the Gorge fire two years ago, a number of popular trails are still closed. Latourell gives you a glimpse into why we love the Columbia Gorge so much. Accessible loop will get you to the falls and back in less than an hour, part of the trail is paved. Approximately 30 minutes outside of Portland. ”
