“The magnificent Bamburgh Castle is a must to see. Walk from Bamburgh to Seahouses along the beautiful wide stretch of beach. The Lord Crewe in Bamburgh is dog friendly and offers nice food. Further along the street is R Carter & Daughter Food Emporium which sells takeaway food. In Seahouses there are several pubs and Fish and Chip restaurants. ”

“Avoid the city centre and the nightmare of parking to do your shopping! The Gateshead Metro Centre is a lovely large mall with all the main chain stores like M&S, Next, Debenhams, Primark, TKMaxx and Boots, in addition to numerous boutiques and dozens of restaurants. There is also a massive ten screen cinema attached. There's a kiddy train that drives around the mall and comfortable seating spread throughout to take a little break from shopping. Outside of the mall is a retail park with a 24 hour Asda, Ikea and other big stores.”

“Completed in 1998, it is a steel sculpture of an angel, 66 ft tall, with wings measuring 177 ft across. The wings are angled 3.5 degrees forward to create, according to Gormley, "a sense of embrace". The angel, like much of Gormley's other work, is based on a cast of his own body.”
