“This is the former home of the Pedroso family one of Havana's noble families, Don Mateo was the alderman of the city. It is notable as having a 32 metres continuous balcony which is one of the longest in Cuba. It now houses many artisan and artists shops. One of the most notable shops is the cigar shop with cigar related posters and memorabilia on the courtyard walls. You can arrange so they can teach you how to smoke a cigar. Small local music and dance groups provide entertainment for those stopping for refreshment. The courtyard looks fabulous with the green vines. Worth a visit to get a glimpse back to an 18th century mansion. ”

“Bianchini is an amazing place to taste Cuban and international desserts. The decoration of the place, the quality of the coffee, cookies, and the rest of the handmade deserts, and the friendly workers worth several visits! This is one of the best examples of the success of the openness for the private sector: a Cuban-Swiss woman decided to open this desert shop, and it has become a remarkable place in one of the most centric areas of Havana Vieja.”

“Rich in history, architecture, and entertainment, Calle Obispo is famous Cuba-wide. This narrow roadway connecting Central Park with Plaza de Armas buzzes with life in the evening. Travelers come here to enjoy the restaurants, including the famous El Floridita; soak up the lively ambiance; and admire the architecture, which is predominantly Cuban Baroque and Art Nouveau. Other things to see along this stretch are the Hotel Ambos Mundos, home to Ernest Hemingway for seven years, and Taquechel Pharmacy Museum, which has been dispensing herbal remedies for more than a century.”
