“You can access the Shaw Butte Trail right from our driveway. If you don't feel like going all the way to the top, stop at the site of the former Cloud Nine Restaurant and have a secret spot to watch the sunset.”

“ A challenging hike up the nose of the Camel. One of my favorites. If its your first time, allot yourself 2 hours to get up and down. Also weekends are very busy and parking is limited. Arrive early or go in the middle of the day. Weekdays are pretty open. If you don't mind a walk, there are some parking lots at the Monte Lucia resort, and some surrounding neighborhoods. Allot yourself another 30minutes if you decide to/have to walk to the trailhead.”

Amusement Park
“Enchanted Island is located in the heart of central Phoenix's Encanto Park, one of the city's oldest and most picturesque parks. This small amusement park offers the perfect budget-friendly escape for families with young children. The park features nine rides, a carousel, a C.P. Huntington train, a small selection of arcade games, and snack bars. When the weather is cool, don't miss the pedal-boats, which allow you to travel across Encanto Park's fish-filled lagoons. There is also a splash zone for those hot summer days. When you're done exploring the park, explore the grounds of Encanto Park, which features recreational opportunities, trails, and plenty of shady trees for picnicking. Admission is always free at Enchanted Island. Visitors pay for individual rides and games.”

Trail
“Great set of easy to moderate hiking trails directly north, it is about a 15-20 minute drive on the scenic part of the Cave Creek Road on the way to Carefree and Cave Creek. Especially great when wildflowers are blooming in the spring. This set of trails is also commonly used for horse back and mountain biking so keep alert on the trail. There are bathrooms but no drinking water, nice size parking lot.”

Trail
“South Mountain has a multitude of hiking trails for any fitness level. It's a beautiful place to go for a morning jog or afternoon hike. My boyfriend and I often take burritos (Arizona style from Los Taquitos) and have a mountaintop dinner overlooking the city at sunset.”
