Restaurant
“Mamma Roma and The Reef Bar are right next door. With live music outdoors most weekends, their BYO licence means you can put the cooking on hold and sit back and enjoy the Picnic Bay foreshore at your leisure. (Bookings recommended). The Picnic Bay Hotel is also just a short walk. It also offers the R&R Restaurant and Bar as another way to stay out of the kitchen. All have great views across the jetty with the lights of Townsville in the distance. Horseshoe Bay on the opposite side of the island also has a range of restaurants, take aways and pubs. Hop on the bus and enjoy the ride. Supermarkets? Just visit the whatsonmagneticisland.com.au 'Services & Facilities' tab for info.”

Museum
“The MIHCC and Museum are literally just across the road. You'll find helpful staff that are ready to tell you fantastic tales about the history of Magnetic Island, and the characters that have inhabited it. Shipwrecks surround the island, so they also have information on these if you're interested. There is a small shop and a separate building full of information. Magnetic Island also has many artists and galleries. Most will welcome you, but you may want to call them first to arrange an appointment. Just go to: whatsonmagenticisland.com.au and look for the 'Artists & Galleries' tab on the right.”
