“Incredible food, cocktails and atmosphere, the Alva Stone is tucked away in the historic Bookmill, where you can dine by a waterfall and enjoy a truly delcious meal. Go for a stroll around the Bookmill, grab a coffee or beer at Lady Killgrew's, then head to the Alva Stone for a lovely dinner. This is one of our favorite places in the region, Alva Stone at the Bookmill in Montague is only a 20 min (scenic) drive away, along lovely country roads. ”

“This is a great little pub that has fresh, seasonable, mostly organic-focused food and a nice selection of their own beers. It has a nice vibe, casual and I’m serious when I say I have never had a bad meal there! I have been there (not kidding) over a hundred times and still enjoy going. Very reasonable prices.”

“The Blue Rock Restaurant & Bar is a wonderful upscale restaurant with a porch for dining or drinks, cool bar, and innovative cuisine featuring food from local farms and purveyors. There are delicious food items for every taste, including gluten free options. Entrees range from $14-$24, but you can order a grilled cheese sandwich or burger for less. Reservations recommended.”

“With tons of beers on tap, a lively atmosphere, and a food menu, too, this bar is a popular hangout. Keep an eye out and you're likely to see a few first dates unfolding around you, for some light-hearted people-watching (we wish them all good luck!).”

“This is fantastic for drinks and food. The Margaritas and Fish Tacos are superb. It is south of Amherst Center at the intersection of Route 116 and Pomeroy Lane. It is a fun atmosphere, but very loud. The wait is long on weekends. Go early. Lunch is quieter. ”

“15 minute drive. One of the last places in the area that ever resembles a divey bar...though it isn't particularly divey. Just has a more local vibe. Good food. Questionable service;). Worth a visit.”

“Shelburne Falls Bowling Alley is one of the oldest bowling alleys in the country. Offering candlepin bowling, this is a true New England style bowling alley. Late night all-you-can-bowl specials are available Friday and Saturday nights. Enjoy a drink, live music, or the game on two large-screen TVs.”

“This is a super freaking cute place, with a cool menu and vibe. A little hot on the wallet, though, if you’re having dinner. Coco is only open from weds-sun, but I have heard great things about the buttermilk fried chicken (I’m a pescatarian). I was impressed with their menu, and they definitely have some of the most skilled mixologists behind the bar. Great ambience, and pretty accommodating of food allergies (if you ask nicely). The cellar bar can be a little musty at times, but has a great beer list, albeit a slightly hipster/too-cool feel. ”

“This is a fun, retro-vibed restaurant with an interesting food and drink menu. Weekly specials are often bold and flavorful, and they make a decent cocktail. ”
