Lieu historique
“The summer home of 19th-20th century American sculptor Augustus St. Gaudens and a part of the Cornish Artist Society, this home and sculpture studio has lovely grounds with some of St. Gaudens' most famous sculptures, a peaceful view of Mt. Ascutney, and wonderful concerts on summer Sunday afternoons. The drive along Rt. 12A north from Claremont is lovely in all seasons.”

“Go apple picking in the fall at this wonderful farm and orchard. Get some ice-cream with maple syrup on it, or ride in a draft horse wagon out to the orchards, pick apples and raspberries, and catch the wagon back.”

Natural Feature
“ I would recommend checking out that area if you want to do if bit of exploring, hike or want quiet place to write. Amazing views if you go to the top (about a mile) from trailhead parking lot at Plainfield (k-8) School. There is also a trail head if you drive a couple miles down Colby Hill Road. There are several miles of trails and a map showing the area from the parking lot that I mentioned above. Miles and miles of groomed ski trails. If you follow "So Inclined" trail, you'll eventually find some interesting ruins (and an abandoned old car) in the forest of long-gone Meriden residents. I am a distance runner so frequently explore the area. It may be a little windy at the top. ”

“These wonderful friends of ours offer horse drawn carriage and sleigh rides every weekend for $125 for a group up to 10 people. Recommended highly!! It is the most exquisite way to see the area, moving slowly through the backroads and seeing the mountains and scenery. Check out their website at http://fitchfamilyfarm.com/carriage-rides.php”
