“BEST MOUNTAIN. Cowles Mountain is a prominent mountain located in the San Carlos neighborhood, within the City of San Diego, San Diego County, California. The 1,593-foot summit is the highest point of the city of San Diego. It is protected within Mission Trails Regional Park. Difficult but worth the hike straight up - the BEST VIEWS of the city!”

“5-minute drive to amazing historic, beautiful accessible state park. Stop in to tour the property, watch a polo game (yes - on horses!), or a mountain hike.”

“This group of canyons is burrowed into the south end of Palm Spring on the main drag if you continue beyond “the curve”. It’s the perfect escape for hiking and horseback riding (contact Smoke Tree Stables). Temperatures can be cooler in some of the canyons which is nice in the summer months, and there are a couple of swimming holes and waterfalls if you do your research.”

“You can park for free on the perimeter or at the Chamber of Commerce and walk around the lake in an hour or so. The local elementary school installed nature information sheets about wild life that live there. You can see beautiful birds and creatures (usually turtles) all year round, especially if there is a bit of sun. This is also a fun place to take little one's for snow play the few times we get more than a foot of snow at this elevation. Do not let your pets drink the water, as far as I know it is being treated and not safe for pets (or consuming the fish). We had a lot of work done on the lake in 2019, and I hope it gets done by summertime!!!”
