“800 m from The White Box Loft once at National History Museum a large mural mosaic depicting ancient to modern figures from Albanian history adorn the entrance. There are many pavilions such pavilion of Antiquity, pavilion of Middle Ages, pavilion of Renaissance, pavilion of Independence, pavilion of anti fascist war, pavilion of communist terror, pavilion of Mother Theresa and most importantly pavilion of Iconography. The pavilion of Iconography is quite impressive as it consists of Icons of renowned 16th century Albanian Master of colour Onufri. The signages are in english and very informative. A must visit to understand the history, culture, traditions and customs of the great nation Albania.”

History Museum
“Bunk'art 2 reconstructs the history of the Albanian Ministry of Internal Affairs from 1912 to 1991 and reveals the secrets of “Sigurimi”, the political police that was the harsh persecution weapon used by the regime of Enver Hoxha. Bunk'art 2 is the first major video museum exhibition dedicated to the victims of communist terror.”

Galerie d'art
“Set in the original atomic bunker of communist dictator Enver Hoxha, Bunk’art traces the rise of fascism, communism and the brave rebellion that led to Albania’s eventual liberation. The space is enormous, very atmospheric and, honestly, there’s almost too much to take in, but a few hours here is sure to leave a lasting impression. For those without the time to travel to the city’s periphery, Bunk’art 2 located in the heart of the city provides a smaller alternative.”

“Located in a quieter part of town not far from Skanderberg Square, Hemingway has a friendly atmosphere, over 100 types of rum—that’s it’s specialty liquor—and old-fashioned décor reminiscent of the 1970s and ‘80s in Albania, but with a bohemian twist. Fittingly, the music playing inside is always jazz. Foreigners may be surprised because here they will find the same quality of cocktails like in bigger cities like London or New York.”

“Rinia Park (Youth Park) is a public park in the centre of Tirana. Built in 1950, it covers an area of 29 hectares. Initially it was a pleasant family park where Tirana residents took their children and relax in the evenings or at weekends. Later it took the name Taiwan after the complex to the side of the green area, which is like an island in the Park. There is another funny story behind this name. The construction of Taiwan complex finished just when the Albania's communist regime broke relations with China. At that time, Albania recognized the sovereignty of Taiwan and named the new structure in the middle of Tirana in their support. These are the rumors, one can not bet that this is the truth. The history of the park, continues in '90. After the collapse of the regime, illegal buildings sprang up all around the park, but during the city's clean-up in 2000, more than 130 buildings were demolished and the park was reseeded with grass. The white terraced building complex on the western edge is decorated with fountains houses cafés, restaurants and a bowling and billiards centre in the basement. Named after an old nickname for the park, the entire centre is known as the Taiwan. Both names are used. Youth park, or Taiwan is today a popular meeting place for people since the Taiwan complex has nice cafés and very good restaurants.”

Place
“ Sheshi Skënderbej is the best place to start witnessing Tirana's daily goings-on. Until it was pulled down by an angry mob in 1991, a 10m-high bronze statue of Enver Hoxha stood here, watching over a mainly car-free square. Now only the equestrian statue of Skanderbeg remains, and the 'square' – once Tirana's most popular meeting point in the decades where 99% of people were forced to get around on foot – is now a huge traffic roundabout. Early evening is a particularly nice time to come here. Buskers strum a few tunes and vendors sell popcorn and balloons as the locals stroll and chat.”

Parc
“The Grand Park of Tirana (Albanian: Parku i Madh i Tiranës), or the Park on the Artificial Lake, is a 289 hectare public park situated on the southern part of Tirana, Albania. The Park includes an artificial lake and many other landmarks such as the Saint Procopius Church, the Presidential Palace, and memorials to several Albanian personalities. It remains one of the most relaxing places in the city, despite increasing buildings being developed near the park, an early-morning run or promenade is a daily routines for many citizens. To the southern end of the Park, there is the Zoo and the Botanical Garden. The latter includes many flowers and plants that are common to the Albanian environment. There are almost 120 species of trees, bushes and flowers. The Botanical Garden area is of 14.5 hectares and the lake's size is of 55 hectares, whereas the area of the Park itself is of 230 hectares. The Park was built between 1955 and 1956 in a green area. The Park starts at the southern end of the Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, after the University of Tirana, south of the main Skanderbeg Square. It was formerly called 'Park of Saint Procopius' (Albanian: Parku i Shën Prokopit) from the Saint Procopius Church, which is located in the area. In the internal parts, there can be found the memorials of 45 British and Australian soldiers fallen during World War II, as well as a memorial of hundreds of German soldiers from the same war.”

“Rinia (Youth) Park is now the proud focus of among other things the evening xhiro, when thousands of locals dress up and stroll around to meet up and chat with friends. The spidery white building that looks like it could be the lair of a James Bond villain is an entertainment complex called Taiwan and houses restaurants, a swish terrace café, bowling alleys and a casino. The main attraction however is the fountain in front of Taiwan which in the evening fascinates hundreds of young and old onlookers with its light show.”

“A mannequin in traditional Albanian dress will greet you with a stony smile as you enter this tourist favourite. The pantomime continues inside and the restaurant is stuffed with traditional crafts, and while its popularity with travellers means you won't feel like you've discovered a truly authentic slice of the country, the delicious menu makes it well worth a visit.”
