“The Famed Weissmuller Pool at the Lafayette hotel: At almost three quarters of a century old, 300,000 gallons, and almost 25 meters long. The pool is continuously voted as one of the best in San Diego, remaining a top draw of the hotel and neighborhood. Over recent years the pool’s popularity has exploded, making it a summertime Mecca for locals and even LA residents looking to unwind. In fact, people love the pool so much that it now plays regular host to DJ's, bands, and events on a regular basis. You can buy a pass for $20/day. ”

“Joe Austin and Sam Chammas opened Live Wire in 1992. Named after their college radio KCR – the live wire, the bar is all about “kick ass bands and kick ass beers”. The first wave of local beers poured from the taps when the bar opened. Rocket from the Crypt, Fluf Lucy, Fur Coat and more blast from the jukebox, and Patrons enjoy drinking Alesmith, Ballast Point, Karl Strauss, Blind Pig and much more. 20 years after its opening the bar stays true to its origins, not much has changed, and why should it? Live Wire has great beer, pint size cocktails, and an awesome jukebox.”

Bar
“Cash only bar with an really good bottled beer selection (no drafts, no cans) and strong drinks. They almost always have Pliny the Elder bottles. You won't find a fancy cocktail here, but if you're looking for something strong, cheap, and with a jutebox and pool tables, this is the spot. Bring your own food, dog friendly.”
