We are Liberty Hill Farm, in Rochester, Vermont! Tours run Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 9 am. Our farm tours are scheduled to coincide with daily chores to allow guests the opportunity to experience daily farm life. Guests will be able to watch the cow milking process and even try their hand at milking! From there, we will explain the journey from cow to milk jug. Guests will learn about the different ages and stages of the dairy cow, from birth through adulthood. We will meet, pet, and even feed baby calves, explore the barns, and meet kitties. Every tour is adjusted to meet the needs and interests of our guests. We encourage our guests to participate hands-on, and encourage questions and ideas! We simply love to share our love of farming and our animals with others! ***All proceeds from our farm tours go directly to our nonprofit organization, Liberty Hill Center for Agricultural Education. *** Other things to note: I only book about a month in advance, so if your preferred date does not appear, check back! Tours will be held rain or shine! I only cancel if temperatures are below zero, so please plan accordingly! It is up to the guest to check weather reports. No refunds will be given for guests canceling the morning of the tours for weather-related issues. We love all animals, but cannot host guests’ pets, for the safety and well-being of our animals!
Façonnez de l'argile sur un tour de potier
Learn from a Master Potter how to "throw" pots on the potters wheel. This one and a half hour class will take you from a ball of clay to forming a cup, bowl or some other creation that only you could do! You will learn the basic techniques needed to center the clay and form a pot. Most guests are able to try 3-4 pieces of clay during the experience. This gives you a good feel for working on the potters wheel. It's fun, it's mesmerizing and something you will remember for a lifetime. Other things to note: The experience is getting to understand working on the potters wheel. Unfortunately, you will not be able to take any pieces s home with you. Making a ceramic pot is a multi-step process and the throwing part is only the first step of four that is spread out over a few weeks. A good attitude, the ability to use both hands and sit on a low stool is required.
Faites un objet en verre soufflé
Want to try your hand at glassblowing? It is exciting! Make a flower with a curly stem, flower funnel or a straight stemt or an ornament with our help. You'll experience first hand the thrill of working with molten glass and will create a unique work of art from start to finish. I will start with an overview of the glass studio and the glassmaking process and give you an actual demonstration on how to make the item you've selected. You’ll roll the glass in the color(s) of your choice, blow into the pipe, and help shape the piece. After an overnight controlled cooling process, you walk away the next day with your own, one-of-a-kind creation or we can arrange shipping for a small additional cost. Other things to note This experience is open to any one from the age of 8+ If the times available do not match your travel plans let us know to see if we can accommodate you a different day.
Atelier sirop d'érable traditionnel du Vermont
Your group (up to 10 persons) will learn the process of making maple syrup. I will guide you through a tasting of the different syrup grades and explain how to grade and bottle maple syrup. We will then try some sugar on snow which you will never forget! Maple sap runs when the days are above 38 degrees and the nights are below freezing. If the sap is not running or we don't have sap in storage, I will boil water (sap is 97% water) for the class. If the dates that we have listed don't work for your time frame, just send me an email and I can see if we can find another time for your true Vermont maple experience. We produce our syrup in an artisan way and you will be able to see this when you sample our maple products. We will have a maximum of 10 people, the sugar house is small, and we are not a giant production house that does thousand of gallons per year. Children under 5 are free. We at most make 60 gallons, most of which I bottle in my handblown glass! Other things to note: Part of the experience will be outside to see how sap flows from the tree into lines hung on maple trees. Inside the sugar house, we'll have the evaporator boiling (sap in season water when not in season). We do not have any toilet facilities- except in the wood! So please plan ahead.
Le bien-être au contact des chevaux
Join the herd and Ellen, an equine assisted wellness coach. Learn more about this highly intuitive, sensitive and emotionally intelligent animal as we meet them with mindful, heart centered awareness as we co-create a relationship. As in all relationships this is about respect and resonance, therefore we honor the horse's choice to be touched or petted if they are not comfortable or receptive. We will begin with some mindful practices to ground us, center us and prepare us to connect with the horse's sensitive energy field. Powerful and effective skills for our lives in an extreme world ! Private bookings are available for individuals, couples, and small groups to keep it personable. If bringing children, it is helpful to know what age to plan for. The material is geared towards adults but children can still benefit. Request a day and time that works for you and we will do our best to accommodate you. À la rencontre des moutons
We will begin by learning about Shetland sheep, their management, what a ruminant is and other facts specific to the Shetland breed of sheep. I will talk with guests about why we are breeding the sheep we have and what it means for them to be on the Livestock Conservancy's list of recovering breeds and why it is important to continue smart farming practices to conserve breeds that are important to diverse agriculture. Once guests have had their fill of sheep snuggles, I'll talk about the benefits of wool and demonstrate different processing techniques to show guests how the wool goes from fluff to useable yarn and fabric. Guests will have the opportunity to dive in and try their hands at wool carding, spinning and knitting with guided instruction. My hope is that guests will leave with a better understanding of the importance of conserving rare agricultural animal breeds, how their conscious choices while shopping for products can make a huge difference in animals lives, small farmers lives, their communities and the environment. Our goal is to take care of our environment while promoting rare agricultural animal breeds and educate others about the importance of taking care of the land, the animals and each other. Our educational experience packs tons of information and instruction into just an hour long mini class.

Une grange remplie de chèvres
Guests are welcomed into our beautiful barn where there will be a short explanation about how to safely interact with our goats and then we will head into our goat pen for your "goat therapy" hour! Guests are often surprised at how friendly our goats are! Goats are funny, curious creatures who are very smart and capable of knowing their names and learning daily routines. And since this is a working dairy goat farm every spring there will be a lot of bouncy GOAT BABIES to play with!! While visiting please feel free to ask questions, we love to talk about our goats and share what we have learned through our experience as dairy goat farmers. You are welcome to take photos and share them on social media but please tag our farm, we'd love to see your pictures! We can’t wait for you to join us on the farm and meet our amazing goats! Trust me, you’ll be glad you did! Check out all of our reviews! Other things to note: 1. Non-alcoholic beverages are provided 2. Goats like to taste things, please consider wearing long hair up and no dangling earrings. 3. No pets allowed, service animals are permitted. If you require a service animal please notify the farm prior to your arrival. The service animal will be allowed in the barn but may not be allowed in the pen, goats are very nervous around dogs. 4. Please wear clothing/shoes that can get dirty.
Private guided nature immersion at a woodland sanctuary
Experience the beauty of Vermont in a meaningful and memorable way with a guided Forest Immersion inspired by the Japanese art of shinrin-yoku (“forest bathing”). This immersive experience incorporates an uphill walk to keep warm as well as periods of stillness to more deeply connect with nature. You will be offered guided prompts, or “invitations”, that tap into all your senses. Not just your 5 senses, but also your intuition, imagination, and more. The guided invitations encourage mindfulness and range from contemplative to playful interaction with nature. We begin with a sensory-awakening meditation to get grounded and connect with your world in new ways. This mindful, relaxing experience is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to quiet your mind, let your curiosity wander, and be inspired by nature. There will be a combination of walking, meandering, and sitting over about 2.5 miles of terrain that begins uphill and returns downhill. If you have mobility concerns, please message me and we will modify the experience to have less walking and/or select an alternative location that is more level. For your safety, proper clothing and footwear is required, including non-cotton base layers. Recommended attire for current conditions will be communicated at the time of booking. If the start times in the calendar aren't perfect for you, please message me with your requested time.
Immersion guidée dans la nature à la pleine lune
Experience nature unfold as we shift from daylight to twilight to nightfall at this special time of the month when the moon is at its fullest. We’ll be guided to tune in to our senses to appreciate nature in new ways. Sweeping views offer us the possibility to see the moonrise. During our Full Moon Forest Immersion, you will be offered guided prompts, or “invitations”, that tap into your senses and quiet your mind. You will experience a combination of sitting, walking, and meandering over short distances. Enjoy a peaceful journey of your own alongside an opportunity to share your experience with other participants. Slow down, de-stress from your day and be inspired by nature in this unique opportunity to connect on a full moon. Note: This is the same style experience as my Privately Guided Nature Immersion in a Woodland Sanctuary Experience but offered full moon evenings only, and is open to non-private groups.
