If you want to try Danish lunch, go for

In the summer we suggest visiting the food market Reffen. It is a lot of outdoor food stalls with food from around the world. People eat and have drinks, there is lounge music and a really nice atmosphere. It is located next to the sea, just opposite of the little mermaid. It is not the best location on windy days.

Amager Bakke (Copenhill) is a really nice experience on a sunny day. It is a hill on the top of a power plant not far from our house. You can either walk to the top or take the lift and the view over the sea and the city is really good. There is an outdoor bar at the top and there is no entrance fee. The hill is also a slope for skiing but this is not recommended unless you really enjoy skiing on plastic.

There are two companies operating the canal tours. Netto Boats are the cheapests and give a really long tour. On the other tour you can jump on and off to see things along the way.

A lot of foreigners have heard of this community (within the community) which was founded back in 1971 by a group of people who did not want to be part of the established society. The place has a very nice atmosphere. It is fun to just look around and see the home-built houses of the residents.

A lot of our guests cross the bridge to Sweden to visit Malmø (2nd largest city in Sweden). You can go there by car, train or bus. We have mainly been there with children, so my recommendations are for the very nice theme playgrounds spread around town and the technical museum + café.

If you are in the city centre and want to find a quiet spot, the botanical garden is right next to Nørreport station. Here you can visit the garden for free and pay to get access to the greenhouses.

If you are headed outside town, I would recommend visiting this museum. The place is beautifully situated right next to the sea and the place has a very special atmosphere. If you go there with children, there is a separate art house with children's activities.

This is a really cool place to go for “children” of all ages that enjoy hands-on experimenting. Perfect for a rainy day! It is on the other side of Copenhagen, so I recommend going by car. We always park in the basement of the shopping center next door.

Local Activities
We have the beach right outside the door. It is ready for walks, talks, kites, swimming, cold dips, picnics, sand castle building and so much more.
If you like roller skates, skateboards or scooters, the beach park is a good place to bring these. The main walk through the park is made from concrete and there are several large areas that work well with wheels. We recently had a skate ramp added at Bunker 3. Here you can also hang out for a drink on some afternoons and nights.

Christmas in Copenhagen
You can look for Christmas markets online on visitcopenhagen. Here you will find a selection of markets, some of which are in the city. Others are outside Copenhagen and can be reached by car.
Danes eat loads of “æbleskiver” around Christmas. Directly translated it means “apple slices”. It is balls of pancake dough that (in the old days) used to have a slice of apple inside. It is eaten with sugar and jam.
“Gløgg” is another thing to try. It is hot red wine with spices, almonds and raisins.
Apart from this, Danes eat “flæskesteg” (pork roast with crackling) and “risengrød” (rice cooked with milk) with butter and cinnamon or made into “ris á la mande” (rice pudding) with cherry sauce. Some of these things can be tried if you go for a Christmas platter or “julefrokost” (Christmas lunch).
Walking around Copenhagen you will get a lot of Christmas feeling. There is normally a market at the square Kongens Nytorv (Kgs. Nytorv) which is also one of the main stops on the metro when visiting the city center.
