Booking a performance at the Minack Theatre whilst visiting West Cornwall is a must. The dramatic cliff top location is unique and there is nothing quite like taking in a performance under the stars. Wrap up warm though! Take away drinks and snack options available at the theatre.

Featured as a filming location in the Poldark TV series the mines at Botallack perch on the North coast cliffs. This stretch of coastline has a very rugged beauty and is perfect for a walk. Consider a tour around Geevor Tin Mine and then taking the coast path towards Levant Mine and then onto Botallack or for a longer circular walk continue onto Cape Cornwall and then take a more inland route back. The iWalk Cornwall app has a good route.

No visit to West Cornwall is complete without a trip to St Michael’s Mount. At low tide the causeway is accessible for walking to the Mount or at other times take one of the little ferry boats over. The gardens are also open on a seasonal basis but subject to a separate ticket booking from the castle (combo tickets are available). Combine a trip to the Mount with a meal or pit stop at The Godolphin, also noted in my guidebook.
