THE FLAT AND THE NEIGHBOURHOOD The flat is located in Strada della Carità 10 (literally ‘Charity Street’), where an old monastery was set by nuns in 15th century. The building is a so-called ‘casa di ringhiera’ (literally ‘guard rail houses’). It is a type of traditional housing where several flats are sharing the same open gallery on each floor. These galleries run the whole length of the building, provide access to the single housing units and face an inner courtyard. They were built around the turn of the 20th century and they are still very popular in Milan. 5 minutes far from the flat you can walk along via Lazzaro Papi and via Muratori with plenty of restaurants. BREAKFAST Pasticceria Marlà, corso Lodi 15 – It is one of the newest and most stylist pastry shop in the neighbourhood. You can order the traditional ‘brioche and cappuccino’, coffee and any kind of bakery. RadiceTonda, piazza Buozzi 5 – It is a vegan café and restaurant. LUNCH / TO TAKE AWAY Giannasi, in the center of piazza Buozzi – It is a big kiosk selling the traditional Italian dishes. You can buy and take away lasagne, cannelloni, risotto, gnocchi alla romana, chicken, meat balls, baked vegetables, polenta and much more. LUNCH / TO STAY Izu, corso Lodi 27 – It is a Japanese restaurant where at lunch the menu has a special price. RadiceTonda, piazza Buozzi 5 – It is a vegan café and restaurant. Madama Hostel & Bistrot, via Benaco 1 – At lunch you can order different dishes. On Saturday and Sunday you can have brunch there. Gelateria Sioli & Bissioli, via Ludovico Muratori 26 – It is the biggest ice cream shop in the district. ALL DAY LONG MEALS Cascina Cuccagna, via Cuccagna – It is a former farm. Now it hosts a bar and a restaurant, some cultural events and street markets (during the weekends). RadiceTonda, piazza Buozzi 5, is a vegan café and restaurant. Panificio Spagnuolo, via Piacenza 17 – It is a traditional bakery STREET MARKET Every Friday morning, you can experience the colors and the crowd of a street market where buying food, clothing and accessories. The market takes place in via Piacenza and via Crema. THERMAL BATHS QC TermeMilano, piazzale Medaglie d’Oro 2 – You can buy the entrance to the thermal baths, book a massage or sunbath in its garden. Take a look to its website to plan your visit. SWIMMING POOL Bagni Misteriosi, via Botta 18. During June, July and August you can have bath in the swimming pool and have drinks on the green grass around it. The swimming pool is managed by Teatro Franco Parenti, so it often hosts water shows and concerts. Check its calendar to discover the opening times and its special events! ARTS & CULTURE The flat is 15 minutes far from the new and amazing Fondazione Prada, Largo Isarco 2. There, you can visit contemporary art and photography exhibitions, attend the cinema, take a break at the Bar Luce designed by the film director Wes Anderson or just take a walk in its courtyard, where an ancient distillery has been painted in gold and a new tower has been build to give a view on Milan from the above.
