You simply must see the rainforest via the Skyrail. Quite expensive, but very beautiful with spectacular views. Spend the day enjoying the markets in Kuranda, then either catch the skyrail back, or perhaps the train.

Catch the beautiful old train from Freshwater (10 minutes drive away) and enjoy the leisurely scenic journey to Kuranda. Spend the day there enjoying the markets, butterfly sanctuary and bird world, before catching the skyrail home.

Simply stunning. You can day trip (Fitzroy Flyer) or stay on the island in the hotel or camping grounds. Incredible beach, super cute jetty, swimming and snorkelling and great hiking. Love love love Fitzroy!
