Exeter is a one of the most vibrant, attractive and historically interesting cities in England. It has a 2,000-year history, with a beautiful cathedral built from stone quarried from the caves at Beer - a small village in East Devon. Just a short walk from the city-centre is the Quayside, a hub of activity where you can go cycling, canoeing and climbing or simply sit back and watch the world go by from one of the waterside pubs or cafes. The annual Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink, is held at the beginning of May. Exeter has many independent shops, great cafes and a fantastic museum. It is easy to get there on the train from Teignmouth - the journey takes you along the coast and takes less than 30 minutes.
