A half hour north of Plettenberg Bay, a beautiful small town, with only one shop, so take a picnic. Beautiful scenery, forest and coastal walks and a wonderful lagoon for kids to swim in. One may be lucky to see phosphorescence in the evening.

Self guided Boat excursions with super friendly Plett Boat Hire up the stunning Keurbooms river gorge, five minutes out of town. An absolutely lovely thing to do, and there are lots of sandy beaches with stunning views and picnic facilities where one can pull up and have a picnic and swim. Some of the Beaches - eg the first one on the right just after you turn back ie the last one on the left before the barriers across the river, even have clean, well maintained loos !

The best fish restaurant with the best beach views, you eat almost on the rocks next to the beach and the fish is great . However, be aware that in peak season ( Christmas and Easter) , there are long queues and the food is not as excellent as normal.

There is also a Checkers Centre across the way with several stores including the Checkers Supermarket which also sells food and groceries. High Street in town also has many shops and a small, fun, market with African goods.

Our favorite food and deli place to buy home made goodies- from home made treats, excellent bread baked on the premises, local wines and cheeses, jams, olive oils , biscuits, olives, farm eggs - you name it ! A pretty place with wonderfully friendly staff ( especially gentle Raoul) which also has a good little restaurant - casual but very tasty food !

There is not much public transport.
It’s best to rely on a hire car as there are taxis , but they may not be safe.
