The Ballard Locks controls access between Lake Union and the Puget Sound. The fish ladder lets Salmon swim between the two — during late summer and early fall you can watch hundreds of Salmon gather to make the leap. Sometimes you can also spot orcas and seals playing in the current of the locks. There's also a lovely botanical garden in the park!
