Carter's Dam is the tallest earthen dam east of the Mississippi River. This lake is quieter than other lakes because its there are no private docks or houses along its shoreline.

There are two loop options, a 3mile loop (the lower loop) and a 6.7 mile loop (outer loop). The 3 mile lower loop takes you by a Gennett Poplar and immense old growth poplar.
