Organic vegetable market, about 20 minutes from here in the heart of the suburbs. Also does cheese, fish and organic meat on Fridays and Saturdays. The weekends have a lively scence with a cafe, flowers sellers and vintage clothes. It's not a huge market but the veggies are great. Check their website or FB The Green Door Market for opening hours and details.

Wild swimming at its best. This spot is about a 15 minute drive from the house or a 40 minute cycle over hilly roads, in the direction of the Sally Gap/Wicklow. After the turn for Enniskerry on the left, you will pass a roadside cottage on the right on a bend, immediately on your left you will see spaces where you can pull in and park by the roadside. Often there are other cars parked so you can see its the right place. Pull in tight and park carefully so cars can still pass. Entrance to the lake is on your right, a trail is marked with signs saying no overnight camping or fishing, follow the trail to the lake and you will see a stony shore and various access points along the bank for wild swimming. Its suitable for paddling from the stony bank and also for swimming for adults but there are no lifeguards so it's at your own risk. Very beautiful also for picnics or walking along by the water, even if you don't want to swim.
