Parks & Nature

Allow 1 hour to travel there, 2 hours for the walk & 1 hour to get home. A stunning walk along the coast. It's a great way to see some of our beautiful beaches & Sydney Lifestyle. It's really enjoyable and not a massive challenge. Easy to get there by public transport. Take the train from Stanmore one stop to Newtown. Exit Newtown station onto King Street, there's a bus stop a little to the left. Take the 370 bus to its final stop at Coogee Beach. Get off the bus & head to the coastal walk at the left This walk will take you along the cliff tops though beautiful beaches like Clovelly, Tamarama, Bronte & end at Bondi. From there take a bus back to Bondi Junction and train home.

Our newest city park is fabulous. Take the train to Wynyard and look for the "Barangaroo Walk". This is an underground then elevated walkway which will take you straight from the station to Barangaroo. You'll arrive in the restaurant section (lots of lovely waterfront restaurants). Go to your left for the actual park. There's still some construction going on. You'll pass this and arrive at Barangaroo. After a walk around, follow the water back to "The Rocks" - the oldest part of Sydney. You'll find the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) there. Lovely cafe on 4th floor with great views. It's a short walk from there to Circular Quay Station. Don't shop or eat in the Rocks (tourist trap)

Sightseeing

Easy to get to from Circular Quay Station. There's a Bridge Climb but in my opinion it's very expensive (Over $300 each). Just as enjoyable is to walk to the bridge and go up the first Pylon on the city side. Great views and free!!

It's amazing inside and out. There's a lot of theatres at the Opera House. If you can - go to a show. There's a wonderful cabaret showing when you're here. Don't eat at the restaurants near the Opera House - all tourist traps. The exception "Opera Bar" & "Opera Kitchen".

A trip to Sydney wouldn't be complete without a trip on one of our iconic ferries. The ferries all go from Circular Quay. Depending on your preference you can take a ferry to Manly and back. Nice but you will have seen better beaches on your coastal walk. There's a ferry which goes to Tooronga Park Zoo. I'm not a big zoo visitor but you will definitely see all the Australian Wildlife. Tooronga Zoo is probably one of the best in the world. From the ferry dock there's a cable car which goes up through the Zoo - then you walk back down. Magnificent views!! Another option is Cockatoo Island. Accessible by Ferry and in the middle of the harbour - very interesting history.
