We saw the sign pointing to this restaurant and decided to follow the long dirt road. We thought it would be a snack shack on the beach, but we found a first-class restaurant!

Very short distance from our condo is Shaka's. The menu was limited when re-opened after Covid. Nice stage to support both local and traveling musical talent.

Need to stretch your pocketbook but still want to eat out and have good food? This is a great place for that and octopus is on the menu as well. Two avocado dishes for the non-seafood lover.

Déplacements

Rental Cars

Rental car is a must for a trip to Cerritos Beach. We have heard that Cactus Rental car is the best option in this area as the price they quote includes insurance. Your US insurance will not cover it. Other car rental places, including big names you will recognize, don’t include the price for insurance until you get there. Then they overcharge you for different types of insurance. Some which you are legally required to have in Mexico and some are not required, but they will tell you it is.

Credit Cards

We have found that CapitalOne credit cards give the best exchange rate and have no foreign transaction fees.

Pesos

Don’t get pesos inside the airport when you arrive as that is the most expensive. Go all the way outside and buy a bottled water with a $20 USD bill. That will give you enough to pay for the toll road to Cerritos Beach. We use our US credit union ATM card at Banorte in Todos Santos which gives us the best exchange rate and no foreign transaction fees.
