When the tide is out you get to walk along the street. This is especially great during the summer season and for a place to take some pictures.

Once known as Granny Bell's Alley, due to the fact that a grandmother of sixteen children lived there, the reason for its present title quickly becomes clear as you try to pass through it! The walls on each side loom high and dark as the alley bottle-knecks at the Island Wall end. According to history, the alley way may also have got its name from a game local boys once played with a potentially very unamused overweight policeman who was unable to pursue them through this confined space.

Conseils sur la ville

Ne manquez pas

The Greta sailing barge

One of the nicest experiences is heading into the Thames estuary and seeing the WW2 forts, wind farms and sometimes seals - it is a half day trip! (There may be a chance it may cancel due to weather permitted, do try and have a plan B). Steve Norris 07711 657919 - £54 per person on a weekday. Airbnb does not allow links outside their platform but price points and availability can be found on their website.
Déplacements

Kent Cycle Hire

If you fancy renting a bike to cycle the crab & winkle way, the oyster bay trail or the 3 trails experience these guys will have you covered. If you choose to walk to Canterbury you can catch a bus back to Whitstable on the number '4' bus but while you are there you can and soak the cobble roads in Canterbury city centre and see the Cathedral.

Seasalter - walking

A long walk to Seasalter takes approximately (an hour and a half one way depending on your pace). Can be longer as it takes you right up to the bird Sanctuary. There are a couple of stopping points at Seasalter; Forget me not cafe & tea room, The Sportsman for a pint maybe some nibbles. (This is the Saxon Shore route to Faversham). Start the day with breakfast at Windy Corner, head straight to the beach or to Island Wall and see some charming houses which lead you to the beach .. walk endlessly till you reach a spot to relax and go for a swim or just soaking up the sea breeze air.
