Outdoor Fun

One of my favorite places in AZ. Lake Pleasant has many different hiking trails and wild donkeys. The lake, birds, wildlife and cacti are amazing. While you are here, enjoy a meal on the lake at Scorpion Bay.

If you enjoy a challenge plus great views, you may want to try this little hike. There are numerous steps to climb to a view at the top of the hill in Verrado. This hike is located in far West Phoenix and closest to the Peoria/Glendale area.

Cities or Towns to Explore in Arizona (great day adventures)

Arizona has a lot of different areas for exploring. Everything listed her can be done on a day trip. Some are better in certain seasons. Enjoy!
Crown King, AZ: This is a true "off the beaten path" town. You will be driving for 27 miles on an unpaved dirt road. ALWAYS check weather conditions prior to traveling to this town.

Jerome, AZ: This former mountain mining community earned the nickname “The Wickedest Town in the West” during its heyday, when rich copper ore deposits attracted miners, merchants, madams and more to Yavapai County. Enjoy the vintage shops and haunting spirit of this unique town.

Conseils sur la ville

Que faut-il apporter?

Light fabric

From May through September we have very warm days. Especially during June-August I recommend light weight breathable clothing with layers.
Que faut-il apporter?

Sun protection

The sun and heat can be harsh during the summer. I recommend packing a wide brimmed hat. If your plans include golfing or other outdoor activities, I recommend a cooling scarf or something similar to cool your body down.
Que faut-il apporter?

Flip flops for everyone during summer

The summer months cause the ground to get extremely hot. I recommend flip flops for everyone for pool days. You will need something to get to the side of the pool as the pool deck gets very hot and can burn your feet. TIP: when you get into the pool turn your flip flops upside down so they are not hot when you get out and put them back on.
Que faut-il apporter?

Light sweater, long sleeve shirt, or sweatshirt

During the summer it can be very warm so when you dine in a restaurant it can feel very cold. For this reason I always have a light layer with me when I go out. During the remainder of the year I use a sweater or sweatshirt for the evenings. It can get very cool in the evenings outside of summer.
Que faut-il apporter?

Hiking shoes or old athletic shoes

Arizona offers many different hiking and outdoor options. I recommend packing sturdy shoes for hiking or other outdoor activities. Keep them in a plastic bag as your shoes will get dusty during hikes or other activities. TIP: Sedona hikes typically have red sand and dirt trails so shoes and socks get especially dirty.
Que faut-il apporter?

Backpack

If your trip involves any outdoor activities, I recommend a backpack for keeping personal belongings for water bottles, sunscreen, hats etc
